A remarkable chapter in Indian cinema deserves a moment of recognition.

Anant Nag has been named the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2024, honouring his decades-long contribution to Indian cinema. His journey across Kannada and Hindi films, along with memorable work such as Malgudi Days, reflects a career that has connected generations of audiences with stories, characters and emotions.

For Kannada cinema, this is a particularly meaningful milestone. Anant Nag’s body of work stands as a reminder that great cinema isn’t simply about the roles we remember — it is about the emotions and stories that remain with us long after the screen fades.

Congratulations to Anant Nag on this well-deserved recognition.

Cinema evolves.
Stories travel.
Legacies remain.

Cinema lives on.

How to Rebuild Brand Trust After a Public Setback | Mediasys
Here is an uncomfortable truth about reputation, nobody remembers the setback nearly as clearly as they remember what happened next. The setback fades. The response becomes the story.

We have worked alongside organisations navigating exactly this moment, a leadership transition handled publicly, a product failure that made headlines, a controversy that briefly dominated the news cycle. In every case, the instinct in the room was the same, minimise, go quiet, wait for it to blow over. And in every case, that instinct was the wrong one.

The organisations that actually rebuild trust do the opposite of disappearing. They over-communicate, deliberately and specifically, what went wrong, what is changing, and how anyone affected will know the difference. They create visible, verifiable proof points, not just statements, over the following months, so trust is rebuilt through evidence rather than asked for through apology alone. And critically, they stop treating the recovery as a single press release and start treating it as a sustained communications programme, because trust lost quickly is never rebuilt quickly.

Six months after a setback, the audience is no longer asking what happened. They are asking whether the organisation actually changed. That question can only be answered through consistent, visible action, communicated clearly and honestly, not through a single well-worded statement designed to close the chapter too early.

If your organisation is currently navigating a setback, the story is not over. It has just started being written by whoever moves next.

Have you ever watched a brand actually earn back your trust after a public misstep? What convinced you?

What Political Intelligence Actually Means | Mediasys Bengaluru
Political intelligence isn't espionage, it's structured, data-driven listening. Here's what the discipline actually involves and why it matters.
The phrase political intelligence tends to conjure a very specific, very cinematic image, hidden agendas, opposition dossiers, something closer to a thriller than a communications discipline. That image is almost entirely wrong, and it does a disservice to what the work actually involves.

Political intelligence, done properly, is structured listening at scale. It means understanding how sentiment is genuinely shifting across regions, demographics, and issues, not through gut instinct or a handful of anecdotal conversations, but through disciplined analysis of public data, media coverage patterns, and on-ground signal, updated continuously rather than once a quarter.

It means knowing which issues are actually moving a constituency before a rally happens, not after. It means understanding how a message is landing in real time, not weeks later when a post-campaign report finally lands on someone's desk. It means giving a leader or an institution an honest, evidence-based picture of where they actually stand, which is often the hardest and most valuable thing anyone in their orbit is willing to tell them.

None of this involves anything an organisation would need to hide. It involves discipline, data, and the humility to look at uncomfortable numbers instead of comfortable assumptions.

The campaigns and leaders who treat intelligence as an ongoing practice, not a one-time survey, are consistently the ones who are not surprised by their own numbers on the day that matters most.

What do you think most people misunderstand about political intelligence work?"

Learn why the first 90 minutes of a crisis determine the outcome, and how a pre-built crisis communications framework protects your organisation.
Crisis Communications: Why the First 90 Minutes Matter Most | Mediasys
There is a reason crisis communications professionals talk about the golden hour, except in this line of work, it is closer to ninety minutes, and most organisations spend that window doing exactly the wrong thing, waiting for more information before saying anything at all.

Silence during that window is not neutral. It is a vacuum, and vacuums get filled, by speculation, by competitors, by whoever gets to the narrative first. By the time an official statement finally arrives hours later, the story has already been written by everyone except the organisation it is actually about.

What actually works in those first ninety minutes is not a perfect statement. It is a holding statement, an acknowledgment that the organisation is aware, is taking the matter seriously, and will provide verified information as it becomes available, paired with immediate internal alignment so employees, partners, and spokespeople are not contradicting each other in real time across different channels.

This requires something most companies do not have on the day they need it most, a pre-built crisis framework, decision-makers identified in advance, holding language prepared before it is ever needed, and a communications team capable of moving in minutes, not days.

The organisations that come out of a crisis with their reputation intact are almost never the ones with the fewest problems. They are the ones who were already prepared for the ninety minutes that mattered most.

Has your organisation actually stress-tested what happens in your first ninety minutes?

In Karnataka politics, voters don't just vote for a party. They often vote for the person they believe can deliver.

That makes political branding a little more complicated than simply comparing a party's communication budget with a leader's visibility.

Consider this campaign-branding analysis:

Leader Branding
• Budget Share: 44.70%
• Voter Impact: 66.10%

Party Messaging
• Budget Share: 31.80%
• Voter Impact: 27.60%

The numbers point to an important campaign lesson:

A recognisable political leader can sometimes create more voter impact than a larger volume of party communication.

And Karnataka is a good example of why.

The state's political conversations are rarely one-dimensional. Leadership perception interacts with caste equations, welfare delivery, local development, candidate credibility, regional identity, urban-rural concerns and constituency-level issues.

The 2023 Assembly election demonstrated the power of state-level leadership and welfare messaging. The 2024 Lok Sabha election, meanwhile, showed how national leadership, alliances and broader narratives could reshape the same electorate.

So, what should political campaigns take away?

1. A leader gives the message a face.
People may forget a campaign slogan. They are less likely to forget a leader's perceived promise, personality or track record.

2. Party messaging needs local translation.
A statewide narrative becomes powerful only when voters can connect it to their own constituency, community and everyday concerns.

3. Visibility isn't the same as influence.
A leader appearing everywhere doesn't automatically mean the message is working. Credibility and relevance determine whether visibility converts into voter impact.

4. Karnataka requires micro-level political communication.
What resonates in Bengaluru may not carry the same weight in North Karnataka, Old Mysuru, Coastal Karnataka or Hyderabad-Karnataka. The voter is not one audience—and the state is certainly not one constituency.

5. The real metric is voter movement.
Reach, impressions and campaign spend matter. But the harder question is:
Did the communication change perception, strengthen trust or influence the vote?

That is where political branding becomes more than advertising.

It becomes electoral strategy.
