āœ… The good news: your ads are still running perfectly.

āŒ The bad news: the dashboard hasn’t recorded data since then.

So don’t panic if your numbers look strange. But also, don’t celebrate record-breaking efficiency just yet. The system is simply lagging behind reality.

While running Ads, the only metric you should focus primarily on is profitability—the real return on investment for the dollars spent on Google Ads. I see many advertisers who get into the rabbit hole of other metrics like CTR, CPC, CPA, etc. and lose focus on the business's bottom line.

Of course, every other metric is important when optimising the ads and assessing performance, but never lose sight of profits. The last thing you want to do is optimise your campaign toward other metrics while decreasing profitability. Please import the actual dollar value profits into the Google Ads account and optimise toward the most valuable metric.

It’s straightforward: input any business name or website and see if they use Google Ads. This has made prospecting for new clients so much easier and more efficient!

Planning a standout party 🄳 is very similar to crafting a winning Google Ads Search campaign(at least in my head šŸ˜†) - every detail counts! In this mix, think of negative keywords as your selective bouncers 🚫. They’re the unsung heroes ensuring only the VIP guests (relevant clicks) grace the dance floor. But here is the catch- Unless you specify on the guest list, they don’t account for close buddies(close variants) or cousins (synonyms).

Have you ever scratched your head 😤, spotting unwanted keywords despite having a comprehensive negative keyword list? You’re not alone! Even many seasoned pros face this. It’s not magic but a myth; today, we’re busting it! šŸ’Ŗ

Negative keywords are strict gatekeepers. They’re not as accommodating as our beloved positive keywords(which embrace synonyms, close variants, and everything else it thinks is related with open arms) and need explicit instructions to keep those uninvited ā€˜guests’ away. Want a crash-free party? Make that ā€˜Do Not Admit’ list comprehensive!

Dive headfirst into the world of entrepreneurship—it's an adventure that's far less intimidating than you might think if you navigate it with the right strategy. Here's my account.

Entrepreneurship is often portrayed as a treacherous climb, particularly for those shifting from a full-time job to freelancing in the digital space.
The common counsel is to accumulate considerable savings, thoroughly examine your readiness, and avoid impulsive decisions before departing the corporate comfort zone.
However, my experience strayed from this narrative—I didn't stockpile significant savings or meticulously evaluate my stance.
Instead, I boldly stepped away from my stable position at Google's on-site team, eager to steer my course.
My voyage was refreshingly smooth, and I am convinced that today's AI-powered era makes it easier than ever to take the reins. It doesn't require an extended deliberation period. Please let me explain the factors that helped my smooth transition.

First, please sharpen your communication, sales skills, and technical know-how before you begin your journey. It's up to you to draw in clients and market your services—acquiring marketing skills can be a valuable asset too.
The secret to establishing your freelancing career or company lies in selecting the right skill—a subject that directly impacts a business's performance. The more you can enhance a company's bottom line—its revenue—the easier your entrepreneurial ascent will be.
I enjoyed a struggle-free entrepreneurial journey, all thanks to the fortunate encounter with my passion—Google Ads.

I might have faced more hurdles if I had opted for graphic design, copywriting, SEO, Analytics etc., which are less directly impactful on the bottom line. Although these services are relatively easier to come by but are more challenging than Google Ads, businesses often take time to recognize their value.
In contrast, Google Ads can yield tangible results from day one, making it simpler to sell as a service. I'm not suggesting that graphic designers, copywriters, and others can't thrive as entrepreneurs, but their journey may be smoother if they had chosen a skill set like Google Ads.
The more immediately your service impacts a business, the easier it is to expand your entrepreneurial venture, irrespective of the service or industry.

Please keep in mind that it's essential to excel at the service you provide. Mediocrity won't get you far; excellence will. So, dispel the myriad worries holding you back from your entrepreneurial journey. Instead, concentrate on Communication, Sales, and genuinely mastering your craft.

Take the plunge, seize the moment, and watch your entrepreneurial story unfurl. I still only offer Google Ads services at PPCier because none can impact a business like it.

The insights tab in Google Ads is a game-changer for businesses seeking an edge. Access to previously unavailable information, such as the comprehensive details of all your competitors, is like striking gold.

Take the Auction insights within the search trends of the Insights tab, for example. While we've always had access to competitor details in the auction insights tab, it was limited to the immediate competitors in the auctions. With the Insights tab, you can now see a complete list of all your competitors, enabling you to understand your business landscape better, be it a local company or a national one.

Knowing your competition is vital to staying ahead in the game. This new feature reinforces running Google search ads as a top priority if you want to grow your business faster. After all, if you're not taking advantage of this powerful tool, your competition surely will.

Image 1 is an example of all the competitors(25) for a fitness centre running ads in a small town of Jupiter, FL, for a budget under 5k per month.
Image 2 is an example of all the competitors(16,340) running a national US company for a budget above 100K per month.

This data is hidden under the Auction insights report of the search trends within the insights tab.

I had the pleasure of speaking at the prestigious UIUC University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and talking to future entrepreneurs from the Charles H. Sandage Department of Advertising about my journey to success, freelancing, entrepreneurship, my own startup PPCier and, most importantly, the mindset behind it all. Thank you, Terry Kasdan, for the opportunity. It was a fantastic experience for me.

The world really is smaller today than ever before! Mujtaba is a former Google engineer turned entrepreneur who now runs his own digital marketing agency, PPCier. It was really inspiring to hear about how you got started working for Infosys and Google, then took the skills you acquired in those positions to begin freelancing before opening your own firm.
