The Messenger of Allah ﷺ encouraged the believers to increase in Takbeer, Tahleel, and Tahmeed during the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah. He said:
“There are no days greater in the sight of Allah and in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Him than these ten days, so increase in them the recitation of La ilaha illallah, Allahu Akbar, and Alhamdulillah.”
The companions of the Prophet ﷺ did not treat this as mere words; they acted upon it openly and encouraged others through their actions. It is narrated that:
“Ibn Umar RA and Abu Hurairah RA would go out to the marketplace during the first ten days (of Dhul Hijjah), reciting Takbeer loudly, and the people would recite Takbeer along with their Takbeer.”
— Sahih al-Bukhari
This shows how the Sahabah رضي الله عنهم revived the Sunnah and reminded people of the greatness of these blessed days through the remembrance of Allah.
Today, the situation and customs are different, and a person should use wisdom and good manners in how they remind others. One good way is to regularly share Takbeer, reminders, and authentic virtues of these ten days with family, friends, and on social media statuses, so that hearts remain connected to the remembrance of Allah and people are reminded of the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ during these blessed days.
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah, Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa lillahil hamd.
