Pronouncing Etiquette [et-i-kit, -ket]

“Freedom without rules and community without etiquettes are pointless”. We believe that etiquettes are a sensitive awareness of the feelings of others, no matter what fork you use. Etiquettes is not about reserving your best behaviour for special occasions, but making it a way of life. We at Simply etiquette are here to provide a perfect balance of fun and learning by following the 3C’s – customs,

common sense and consideration. Customs are the habitual practices that we pass from generation to generation. Common sense is making a child understand by sound practical judgement. Consideration is being thoughtful, sympathetic and respectful towards others. We believe that it is very important for today’s children to understand the meaning of etiquette, the learning of which is sometimes missed and mostly underestimated time and again in schools, homes and social surroundings. Even when we live in a cosmopolitan set-up where each and every child come from a different socio-economic background, it is very important for the children to be more accepting and understanding of the other person and their surroundings. It is in our interest that we make the child understand the simple rules which can be practiced daily to form a habit, so that they grow up to be a responsible and caring individual and citizen of the nation and harmonize with the society they live in.

Teaching the children to become independent and self reliant is one of the most essential lessons a parent can teach. Nowadays, parents are too much into getting perfection in everything (the competition is bad these days, I agree), that the child cannot cope up, and the parents are pressured. The children take their own sweet time to learn, cope and understand their daily rituals. And how good or bad or perfectly they do it, depends on how they see you doing it. Its fine to show them how its done, but then have patience to sit back and relax, while they take it in their hands. The best you can do is leave them be and set a good example by doing it yourself the best way you can. Show them its ok to err. That its ok to be awkward. Its ok to cry and get angry. Its ok to falter. Teach them, scold them, Guide them, coax them.. But all in all, let them learn it on their own....takes them a long way in building their self confidence.

Saving water and energy is a must to be taught to every child in every house.. fresh water is so scarce in the world, the statistics are scary...sometimes even small things like taking only as much water as u want to drink, using half or 3/4th bucket of water to bathe..or slowing the flow in the tap while washing hands and brushing teeth goes a long way to protect this most important natural resource!

Manners is a term usually preceded by the word good or bad to indicate whether or not a behavior is socially acceptable.

Every culture adheres to a different set of manners, although a lot of manners are cross‐culturally common.

Manners are a subset of social norms which are informally enforced through self-regulation and social policing and publicly performed. They enable human to be sociable by imposing self restraint and compromise on regular, everyday actions.

Q. what is the difference between Etiquette and Good manners?
A. Etiquette is the "Code of behavior", Manners are the "Behavior" itself.
e.g. correctly introducing yourself to someone is etiquette, being polite and empathetic to them is manners

As a coach teaching advanced skills to children, I am often construed as this solemn lady with a serene attire and spic-and-span personality :)
But I do beg to differ!
Etiquette doesn't need to be that serious a stuff! It can be fun, exciting and rewarding at the same time.

Etiquette is delineating the right from the wrong, acceptable from the objectionable/undesirable and making it work in such a way so as to be able to fit in.
And in the long run, it is about being liberated in knowing that living in a society should not always be about yourself and your space.
Its about being compassionate, loving and caring for another human being, as your own.
Its about learning to be self conscious about your stand in the society and community at large.
Its about looking at the broad spectrum and seeing each in its own beauty, without judging!

Greetings from Simply Etiquettes! Glimpses from our 11th-15th April 2016 workshop.
Each child was a learning experience for us and we made a wonderful team together. There was lot of fun learning with videos, games, activities and props. And every one had a good time participating very enthusiastically, even as we learnt well each day.
The demonstration for Table manners and good v/s bad posture were the winners and some playful fun games made the process all the more joyous!
We also crowned the “star etiquette award” on the last day to the child that showed consistent performance and improvement in the skills that we trained them in. She did an excellent job in promoting good manners during the session and was sweet and well behaved throughout.
Lets meet again for the next session 25th April to 29th April 2016! sharing details soon, WATCH THIS SPACE :)
