At the 2025 Met Gala, Diljit Dosanjh made a royal entrance in a unique Prabal Gurung design that was more than simply a piece of clothing; it was a celebration of tradition.
He was the epitome of a contemporary Maharaja, dressed in a pure white sherwani with gold accents, a cape embroidered with the map of Punjab and Gurmukhi lettering, and topped with a traditional turban. This ensemble became a cultural statement thanks to the kirpan and a tiered diamond necklace that echoed the Maharaja of Patiala’s renowned Cartier diamonds. On the most watched red carpet in the world, Punjabi identity, Sikh custom, and fashion came together in a historic moment. Diljit demonstrated his identity to the world rather than only showing up.
