Unpopular opinion about : It's a great tool, and doesn't invalidate your design skills. I've seen enough people create amazing stuff on Canva to believe otherwise. I also use it once in a while when I'm on time crunch! What are your thoughts?

Tell me your all-time favourite font combo in the comments below!
I love type and that is no secret. So, this post has been long overdue! Here's how I pair fonts, with actual pairings which I use for my commercial as well as personal projects. I know there are a ton of these 'guides' available out there but I wanted to give my two cents anyway. Also, all of the fonts and typefaces used in the carousel are either Abobe fonts or from independent type foundries and are totally free to use!

Today's topic is something very close to my heart. Gatekeeping. It can be so ingrained in our minds that we don't even notice that something's wrong. I've been grateful though, I've had mentors who never hid from me, and answered all my questions with honesty. We all need to do that for each other, to truly make art an encouraging and safe space. What are you guilty of gatekeeping? I admit I used to hesitate before telling newbies about how I price my work when I started freelancing. Not anymore though. Trying some new things in my carousel format. Anyway, during my last brand identity project, I realized I don't struggle with approvals as much now. Of course, my design skills have improved along the way, but there are so many factors that add up to a successful project. It can be quite disheartening when you're confident about the work you sent a client but the client doesn't share the same enthusiasm. Most times, it has nothing to do with the design, but with the fact that you need to do a better job explaining your thought behind the work. More informative content about clients and feedback coming soon :)

I've spoken about standing by our pricing before. But it's not that simple is it? In my opinion, it's okay to reduce our rates or even work for free if by the the end of the day you think it'll bring you happiness and peace, or if it's something that'll ultimately bring some actual positive change in the world.

I believe the best easy to have a stable income as a freelancer is by making sure that your clients stay with you.
