The most difficult thing, it seems, is answering "What do you do?" or introducing yourself to others. Common sense says that it should be the easiest thing to do, and yet we end up fumbling every single time. Worse? We end up saying something which has no meaning to the audience and thereby losing the only opportunity to impress them. First Impression – remember? I have been there. I know.
However, there is more to it. How do you describe you or your work when you have different target audiences? Do you say the same thing every time or do you modify it based on who is in front of you? So very confusing! Right? No. All you need is an Elevator pitch created for each of your current and target audiences, so you can cut through the gibberish, and say exactly what they want to hear.
This is something I have been teaching to CXOs to MBA students for a while now (its part of my Personal Branding service) and it did simplify their lives.
