๐ Elon Musk says the reason people need money could disappear within 10 years.
In an interview with The Economist, he argued that money exists because goods and services are scarce. Everything people pay for, from food and housing to transport and entertainment, takes labor and resources to produce.
If AI and robots eventually produce far more than people actually need, Musk says there is no longer much reason to hold currency. He put a date on it and said money will not matter in 2036.
Asked about universal basic income, taxation and inflation, he suggested governments could create money and distribute it directly, as long as goods and services grow faster than the money supply. The risk then becomes deflation caused by abundance.
The prediction lands in a wider debate about how AI could reshape work, wealth and the role of money itself.
