To every hello, there’s a Goodbye. Yup, its a wrap for golden dot design studio !

It is with a heavy heart that we’re saying goodbye to my design studio. This decision has not been easy to make, however I know it’s the right thing to do.

The journey of designing for brands started *7 years back in 2015* when I made my first logo ever for my sisters brand Momocha. An emotional me did not want to miss my son’s milestones and early years, nor did I want to stop exploring. And thus an introvert me started working from home to create logos and other designs for multiple brands. In no less time, I was able to work for multiple brands _(big, small, new, old, government, private)_ in Bhubaneswar and other cities of India . Not to forget the free work for many (lost of count) 😜. Few months back I got into food business and developed a brand ‘DESNA’ which was loved by lot of my friends and family members.

I’m now ready to make a difference by getting into a scalable business. I’ve come to the realisation that casting and being a business owner of 2 companies parallely does not align well for me. After closure of my design studio; I will be taking this time, to focus on ONE business and use my design skills in only one brand that is ‘DESNA’ which purely focuses on pickles and spices.

I also want to take a moment to let the brands that I’ve worked for, and specifically the incredible people I’ve interacted during these projects, know that they are not forgotten, but rather celebrated. 🙌🏻With every project I did, Ive learnt something or the other. You all have left a mark in my journey in your own special way. Together we have created magic and Im sure in few years I can proudly say my son, that your brand identity was created by me.✨

Twisted threads of wonder (Filigree) creating a subtle MAGIC (Jewellery) - We call it Jeweligree

Brand identity for a luxury jewellery brand offering premium gold and silver filigree jewellery. Brand attributes: Elegant, luxury, premium, roots, feminine

The idea behind: The process of filigree art involves creating a piece by joining silver wires as thin as hair in bits and giving a complete shape to it. Filigree Jewelleries and souvenirs, mostly in Odisha are made in Tarakasi work and rose flower is one of the main elements in its repertoire of design motifs. The logo above is an elegant abstract butterfly symbol to depict filigree art of Odisha using rich patterns like these.

The use of butterfly is to symbolise beauty and elegance and this makes it an alluring and feminine art form.

Smartress is a luxury bedding brand in Bengaluru. The new packaging design for smartness had to look fresh, premium and minimal.

The packaging focused on educating, engaging and exciting consumers. The compressed roll pack mattresses saves space, transports costs and can be easily maneuvered anywhere; and that was communicated in the packaging using the minimal approach. We also worked on bedsheets, corner guards , centre strips, estimate pad, leaflet, measurement guides etc for the brand keeping the brand color intact.

The whole process of creating this packaging solution for one of the kind ‘goat manure’ was heaps of fun!

To help tell the story of goat manure, wanted to give packaging the feeling that it came straight from the Kalahandi Odisha farms and had women farmer’s touch (by showcasing her in Habaspuri saree famous in Kalahandi)

When golden dot gets featured for all good reasons 😃

This is an interesting story about Proshish Golyan, founder, The Golden Dot. Her work is as unique as her name. To know more about this multi-talented woman entrepreneur, scroll down through the full story 👇
Years ago, even before Proshish was born, her parents migrated to Nepal. So basically, she is an Indian raised in Nepal. After her basics, she did her MBA in Kathmandu College of Management, and then worked in the famous MNC, JWT, for two years, as a project manager. After marriage, she got permanently shifted to India and settled with her husband in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Then she joined an event management company and introduced an advertising department in the same. She worked in the organisation, leading the AD department for 3 years. So basically, Proshish has a huge experience in the field of Marketing and advertisement. But she also discovered her growing inclination towards graphic designing and visual branding. Soon, people loved her work and she started getting orders for more design works. Gathering clarity in her thoughts, in January 2015, she resigned from her job and started her designing company, "The Golden Dot".
By then, people were only paying for the printing, and designing was considered to be a complementary work. But, Proshish started to aware people of the efforts and creativity a single design needs. She started to design logos on her laptop from home and got a great response for every single creative she did. Soon, orders increased, varieties of work got added and just within 2 years, Proshish started getting Government projects as well. But she made sure, never to get involved in printing for any of her clients. Yes, she always refers to good vendors if required, but she charges only for the designs. It took her almost 8 long years to make people understand that a good visual identity is also a wise investment. Now, The Golden Dot also caters to clients from Hyderabad, Delhi, Bangalore, and also to places abroad like Nepal, Newzealand, and Dubai. It provides expected and affordable designs to people across the globe. The best part is, Proshish gets all her clients just on through references of her happy clients. And she makes sure each of her clients is happy and satisfied with her work. Apart from this, she also deals with corporate gifting for organizations like CSM Technologies, OMC, etc. as per the requirement.
Proshish loves to explore other verticals of work as a way to acknowledge her creativity. These days, after doing various wallpaper designs and creatives, and also having a good hold on colours and designing, she feels to get into the field of interior designing soon.
In these 6 years of her entrepreneurial journey, she has been a good risk-taker. She loves to take up challenges, move out of her comfort zone, explore her talents and increase her verticals at work.
As of now, Proshish is majorly into designing, taking up projects, choosing her teammates from any part of the globe, working hard, creating masterpieces, and generating a healthy revenue of Rs.18-20 lakhs per year. She believes to work with new and upgraded talents throughout the world and hence chooses not to hire people on a payroll.
Along with the Golden Dot, Proshish is also one of the partners to a pickle manufacturing company in Nepal and is only taking care of the designing and marketing part of the same, staying in Odisha.
Besides professional life, Proshish is a happy mom to her little one and enjoys spending more time with him and her pet. She is a travel freak and needs a travel break in between every few months of work. Also, Proshish has an affiliation with music and loves to play guitar sometimes. She used to be a biker, but unfortunately, after an accident, she is not riding a bike anymore. Her mom being her source of inspiration, she has learned to choose her passion over monetary returns. She is a free bird enjoying every bit of her fly and loving that new height she is reaching with time.
Women like Proshish Golyan never fail to prove that women can be the best CEOs, both at home and at work!

Branding and packaging design for Yakkity Zac, a company based in New Zealand which supplies premium dog chews, locally known as “Churpi” which originated from Nepal.

PS: If you have dogs at home, give them yak chews and we are sure they will love it. I got one too for my little Phoebe (shihtzu)

The ultimate luxury is being able to relax and chill. Smartress is an upcoming brand in India. The design was inspired by relax mode symbol. The goal was to make the brand feel more warm and accessible while also evoking comfort.

We kept it simple by using sans serif font. The brand is driven by elegant typography which makes it the most significant part of the visual language.

We are always waiting for the perfect brief from the perfect client. They say, it almost never happens. But with this project, it did.

About project: its an MSME project by Mohanpur Millet Magic Cluster, mayurbhanj, under SFRUTI Scheme with a wide range of product line. They aim to join the villages of Odisha to mainstream market with world class production. We are pretty sure this is going to be a success story and I am proud to be associated it.

I have gotten a good number of DM’s lately about branded stationery and the answer is yes! Designing stationery have been a priority as logo and stationery is essential to start any business. I started with designing my sisters brand and it brings me so much joy to be able to design for others now.

Throwing it back to this fun project, is branding for sunrise hospital. I absolutely loved the color palette chosen. This is an upcoming hospital in Nayagarh, Odisha.
