**I thought we brought Lookwalker to Tamil Nadu.
Then a 1945 image made me question everything.**
Back in **2013**, I saw Lookwalkers being used abroad. I was fascinated by the idea of turning a person into a moving billboard.
I remember thinking:
**“Why shouldn’t we do this in India?”**
That thought became an experiment.
We sourced materials from **Korea and China**, brought the concept to Chennai, and started manufacturing Lookwalkers here. At the time, we had discovered similar forms of human and mobile advertising from the **US, UK and Australia**.
Every time we executed a Lookwalker campaign, I felt a little proud.
**“We are bringing a new marketing innovation to India.”**
But recently, I came across a movie clip on YouTube.
A small boy was walking around **Madurai**, carrying a board displaying a movie poster.
I looked closely.
Then I saw the date on the old newspaper image — **1945**.
That was my **WOW moment.** 😳
Wait…
**This was happening in Tamil Nadu nearly 70 years before I thought we were introducing it!**
Our grandfathers were already using the fundamental idea of **human-powered mobile advertising** — carrying a message and taking it directly to the streets.
Today, we call it:
🚶 **Lookwalker**
🚶 **Adwalker**
🚶 **Human Billboard**
🚶 **Walking Billboard**
🚶 **Mobile OOH Advertising**
But I suddenly wondered…
**What did they call it in 1945?** 😄
Maybe they didn't have a fancy marketing term.
Maybe they didn't have a presentation deck.
Maybe they didn't call it “innovation”.
**They simply knew how to take an advertisement to the people.**
And that realization made me incredibly proud.

We may modernize the design.
We may add technology.
We may improve the materials.
We may give it a new name.
But sometimes, what looks like a **new marketing innovation** is actually an old idea waiting to be rediscovered.
From **1945 Madurai streets** to **modern-day Lookwalker campaigns across Tamil Nadu**…
**The medium evolved.
The idea survived.**
And perhaps that is the real story behind innovation.
**We don't always invent something new.
Sometimes, we rediscover something brilliant from our past and give it a new life.**
Sharing this old visual along with some of our latest Lookwalker campaigns.
And honestly, I'm still wondering…
**“1945-la idhukku enna peru vechiruppanga?”** 😄
