Back to 17th December 2017.

Olive Grapes was just 1 year old at that time in Chennai. It was just a very small brand.

I approached one leading hospital in Chennai for their website revamp where I met a gentleman named Arun. I always get a good feeling when I meet someone with my name.

There was an old CEO who felt investing on website is worthless. But I was in regular follow up till 2019. After that I stop following and no contacts between us.

Back to last week. He called me. He asked me straight "Are you still in the same line of business" and I said "Yes".

Yesterday we met and I got introduced to new CEO. On the table negotiations happened, terms discussed and project on.

After the meeting he said, being big hospital in city, many branding agencies approach us, but I felt like calling you first.

I realised a thing

How we are behaving with others is important than whether you have big brand or small brand. People remember the warmth which you give.

It all started with an email..

We got an inquiry to design the logo for an Indian Restaurant in Newyork.

We had few gmeets and understood each other better and we fixed on pricing.

Few hours later, my phone buzzed. It was the credit from my client in newyork, he transferred 100% payment. I asked him why he did like that, his reply was, "I can see the earnestness on you guys, so chill".

We started working and finished this logo.

Varanam is an ancient Tamil alternative word for "Yaanai" / Elephant.

So we created elephant tusks as the basic property for this logo.

There is a great saying in Tamil.

"திரைகடல் ஓடியும் திரவியம் தேடு".

"Thirai Kadal Odiyum Thiraviyam Thedu"

which means " you travel the globe to make your fortune"

When you see the ancient Tamil people centuries before even did international business.

Air Travel didn't even exist. Maritime travel was the only option. With no technology like radars, sensors, safety equipment they travelled across the globe surpassing storms and weather.

Now we have the internet which makes things easier.

Temples - I adore a lot.

I visit Temples not only for the Divinity or Positivity alone. I visit them to admire the architecture, exquisite arts and paintings, statues and overall the majesty.

I often visit Temples on the day hours when light rays will be magnificent. No artificial lights can equal the natural lights.

End Of A Legacy.

I lost my grandmother 3 days ago. She was 92 when she last breathed. After the profound illness of 40 days she gave up.

She was a woman of high calibre and steel backbone. What she has achieved in 50 years is highly impossible. She started her food business those times when women were restricted in every possible way.

She has defeated the deep rooted patriarchy in her own family, then among her relatives and finally the society.

She worked meticulously for 5 decades. Without any basic education, family or financial support she made it possible.

She was a great listener. She listened to others problems always and gave solutions as per her experience and knowledge. She was a vent for many souls.

She always says to practice the art of patience and working relentlessly. That made her to build a legacy brand.

On the day of her death, around hundred of women employees (past and current) gathered and gave my granny a tearful send off.

Many said, im in a good position in my life, because of you Aachi. She was so good to everyone. Supported others in her best possible way.

I remembered the book of Robin Sharma "Who will cry when you die". My grand mother was one of the living example for that.

We as a family have decided to build her food business as a big one. That's the right tribute we can give for her.

As she always says, we want to be a support to lot of women in their lives.

You have lived a meaningful and purposeful life.
