Aware of the pitfalls of vulnerabilities in its cyberspace following Snowden reports and countless attacks by Chinese hackers on key Indian government websites, Centre has taken a vital step towards having its own operating system (OS) with which it plans to replace all other OSs, including the most popular Microsoft Windows in future.

A highly improved version of BOSS (Bharat Operating System Solutions) developed by C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) will be unveiled and discussed in an internal meeting in union home ministry in this week.

It has successfully tested fending itself from all kinds of attacks during the past three months of trial. Several government agencies including the Army intelligence were given the task to attack it to test its vulnerability status but they all failed to break it.

The fact that Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have been monster hits in all of their launch countries thus far isn't a surprise. What is surprising, however, are reports that preorders for the new Apple smartphones are outpacing orders for Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 in South Korea, where Samsung is headquartered.

Analysts are predicting that preorders for the new iPhones have topped 100,000 units since Friday, according to The Wall Street Journal. In comparison, the Galaxy Note 4 had 30,000 preorders over a similar time frame.

According to the Wall Street Journal, preorders for the new Apple smartphones are outpacing those for Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 in South Korea.

Microsoft's Lumia 930 hits Asia as launch rolls on

The Lumia handset is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, and has a 2,420mAh battery with wireless charging. It's also one of the few Lumia phones to have a SensorCore, a low power motion sensor for fitness tracking.

The Lumia 930 runs the latest Windows Phone 8.1 operating system and interestingly, while the OS does have Cortana, a virtual voice assistant similar to Apple's Siri and Google Now, it's not available for phones in Asia for now. Cortana will only be available in 2015 for those living in Asia.

Apple developing system to automatically unlock iPhone in 'safe' environments

Apple is working on a system that automatically unlocks iPhones when they are in safe locations like home or work, but locks them again when they leave the area.

The system works by identifying where the iPhone is and allows users to set “safe” locations, where settings including security can be automatically changed removing the need for a passcode or Touch ID, for example.

Siri May Get a Whole Lot Smarter, Very Soon

Apple's voice assistant Siri isn't exactly known for accuracy, but the company is reportedly looking to make her much smarter. And soon.

Apple is hiring a team of experts and researchers to ramp up Siri's next-generation software, which is said to work with neural network algorithms, according to a Wired report. This will make it much easier for the service to learn and understand spoken language with human-like speed. Some tasks like face recognition and speech are more complicated for a computer to recognize than the human brain.
