If you're not sure whether your hosting is actually reliable, here's how to find out in 5 minutes:
Test 1 β Go to gtmetrix.com and enter your URL
You'll get a real performance score, load time, and specific issues. Anything over 3 seconds on mobile is a problem.
Test 2 β Check your uptime history
Services like UptimeRobot (free) monitor your site and log every outage. If you haven't set this up, you have no visibility into when your site goes down.
Test 3 β Look at your hosting plan's actual SLA
Find your hosting contract. What is the guaranteed uptime percentage? 99% sounds good until you realize it means 87 hours of potential downtime per year.
Test 4 β Ask your host where your backups are stored
Same server? Different server? Different data center? If your host goes down and your backup is on the same server, you have no backup.
Test 5 β Find your host's support number and call it
How long until someone answers? The quality of that experience during a non-emergency tells you exactly what you'll get during one.
Most US businesses signed up for hosting once and never reviewed it again.
Your business has grown. Your hosting should have grown with it.
