We wish each other "Happy New Year!"s while the clock ticks into another day.
We cross our fingers and stay up all night so that we can "experience" the end of a year dying and another one rising from its midnight black ashes.
We write resolutions hurriedly into pieces of paper and stick them where the bits of words can push themselves into our brains everywhere we turn.

Let us forget the failures of yesterday, the smokes of last week's fire and the debris of last year's left-behinds.

This year, there are 364 more days to get it all right. Again.

And 52 more weeks to fill up the cracks of neglect, putty up the walls we forgot and repaint our home...

Together.

"I love making the stuff, that’s sort of the core of it. I love creating the stuff. It’s so satisfying to get from the beginning to the end, from a shaky nothing idea to something that’s well formed and the audience really likes. It’s like a drug: You keep trying to do it again and again and again. I’ve learned from experience that if you work harder at it, and apply more energy and time to it, and more consistency, you get a better result. It comes from the work."

CARD 1 : ALEXANDRIA

The Museum (Mouseion) of ancient Alexandria was built by Ptolemy 1 and organized by Demetrius of Phalerum, Greece. This building, which was much closer to a modern university than a museum, was to rival any other known to the ancient world, eventually including a library that would contain 600,000 to 700,000 volumes. The museum was dedicated in 300 B.C.E. and was the main center for philosophers to come and study. Palaces were built up next to the Mouseion, and courtyards were assembled for students to enjoy the open air at this major center of learning for Egyptians as well as other peoples who traveled to Egypt to use the facilities of this great library.

The volumes contained in the library were books that the Greeks brought with them to Egypt. Ptolemy invited prominent figures from the rest of the ancient world to actively contribute books to the library and in return, he had copies of the books written down and returned to those who gave their books to the library. Books from Greece, Rome, the Near East, and Asia were included in the vast collection. The Mouseion was complete with lecture halls and a Roman theatre located outside the library. The Muses themselves were the patron gods of the Mouseion, from which the name of this building comes from.
