On December 27, 2025, three indigenous youth organizations in Arunachal Pradeshโthe Indigenous Youth Force of Arunachal (IYFA), the Arunachal Pradesh Indigenous Youth Organisation (APIYO), and the All Naharlagun Youth Organisation (ANYO)โorganized a massive protest rally in Itanagar.
Key Details of the Protest
Purpose: The rally was held to oppose alleged illegal Bangladeshi claims over Northeast India and to protest against illegal immigration. Organizers cited concerns over a "Greater Bangladesh" agenda and its threat to the region's demographic balance and territorial integrity.
Motto: The demonstration was conducted under the slogan "One Arunachal, One Northeast, United India".
Route: Protesters marched from Akashdeep to the Tennis Court area in Itanagar.
Actions Taken:
Thousands of youths participated in a torch march (Mashaal Rally).
Protesters burned an effigy of Bangladesh Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and the national flag of Bangladesh.
Participants called for the protection of indigenous identity, land rights, and cultural heritage.
Demands and Future Warnings: The organizations demanded strict government measures to safeguard national borders and indigenous interests. They warned that fresh agitations would be launched after January 22, 2026, if their demands are not addressed.
