Modi must answer the nation about the Pulwama attack: SDPI

New Delhi, 15 April 2023 (Press release): The nation has for long been kept in the dark about the truth behind the Pulwama attack in which 40 jawans of the country lost their lives. Prime minster's silence on a range of issues is widely read to be his consent. These issues have created uproars and the nation must receive answers to these disturbing questions, read a press statement of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).

SDPI's national president, M.K. Faizy took swipes at the PM's silence and silenting role in what led to the Pulwama attack in February 2019 in which 40 jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force lost their precious lives because of his "incompetence" and the alleged lapses of the home minster, as revealed by former Jammu & Kashmir governor Mr Satya Pal Malik in an interview with veteran journalist Karan Thapar.

Faizy said that BJP lied to the nation about what had led to the attack on the CRPF convoy whose details by none other than J&K last governor, before the State was divided and reduced to a Union Territory, is startling. SDPI therefore demands a high level inquiry into the matter with representation from all Opposition parties and legal experts. He further said that the BJP should unconditionally apologise to the nation for its failure and for using the Pulwama issue for political purposes.

The SDPI leader also demanded an inquiry into the hydro-electric schmes in which the BJP-RSS leader Ram Madhav's role needed to be checked from all angles as the deal smacks of a huge corruption.

Resolution II

Save Democracy

Considered the world’s biggest democracy, India has now fallen to the list of those countries where democracy is threatened and the State is fast moving to become authoritative. The voice of the common man and the Opposition is being systematically suppressed. Right wing anti-social elements have been wreaking havoc and unleashing terror against minorities and vulnerable sections of the society every now and then. Even festivals are used as occasions to disrupt peace and indulge into sloganeering, gun brandishing, loot and arson.
The government with its tall claim of Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas is a mute spectator to such open crimes, rather taking side of the perpetrators of mob violence and vigilante groups who do not hesitate for a moment to take the law in their hands as if they are themselves the police and the judge. These undemocratic practices cannot go for long with the peace-loving majority of the Indian citizens who want India to progress and thrive at the world stage. The government’s utter failure to stop the rabble-rousing goons and anti-national Hindutvawadi groups is earning India a bad name globally. We cannot watch our beloved country to fall to such a poor reputation.
This national secretariat meeting of SDPI therefore passes these resolutions demanding to:
Restore order and save the Indian democracy.
Allow dissent and disagreement so that people’s voices are heard and they help India grow as an ideal democratic nation which has been a hallmark of our country.
Contain and control the inexorable and unchecked rise of the RSS-supported unruly Hindutvawadi mobs and illegal vigilante groups.
Let democratic institutions such as media and academia function independently to strengthen the Indian democracy.
Stop harassing individuals and institutions for using their democratic right to protest and raise their concern about violation of rights and issues of local, regional and national importance.

UP Jungle raj in extreme situations, warrants an immediately high-level inquiry into the killings: SDPI

New Delhi, 16 April 2023: The killing of former MP Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed(ex-MLA) under arrest raises questions of lawlessness and utter failure of the UP government. Similarly, the killing of Asad Ahmed, son Atiq Ahmed, and Ghulam Mohammed by Uttar Pradesh police has shaken the citizen's faith in law and judiciary.
It needs to be fairly investigated as to how the shooters reached so close to kill the former MP and MLA while they happened under full es**rt of the police by a Judicial order. Impartial and credible pobe is needed to know the conditions of police shoot-outs usual in UP as well as to bring it into public domain authorising the police to kill Asad and Ghulam in an encounter exterminating them without a fair trial handing down instant punishment without proven guilty.
These killings in UP under stewardship of CM Yogi usually have been raised for a long many doubts and questions, said Adv. Sharfuddin Ahmad, national vice president of Social Democratic Party of India in a press statement.

Adv. Ahmad said that the killings by the encounters renders the courts and the judicial system meaningless. The police may not be allowed to act and to overexeceise as judge and executive in a democracy.

In view of media reports, public impressions are being gatherd that
Prima facie, the encounter looks fake and a planned political murder, while the video clips of Atiq Ahmed and his brother during assault and aftermath creating an aura of heroism by the killers indict nadir in the law and order situation in the state run under the BJP government being a glaring example of complete failure of the police, intelligence and the government particularly to ensure the saftey of the people arrested. There is dire need of thorough investigation investigated keeping in view of the facts that no police personnel sustained a grievous injury midst firings from the closest of the ranges as shown and no fire to prevent or neutralise the killers could be made allowing an heroic surrender of the culprits of henious crime of murder of Former MP and MLA.

It is in the utmost
interests of the Rule of Law in the state that the three allegedly- connected criminal incidents be clubbed together for the judicial enquiry including the murder of Umesh Pal,the encounter of Asad and Gulam and killings of former MP and MLA and be enquired through a high-level juidicial arrangements under exceptional monitoring in view of the future stakes in the Society.

The SDPI leader demanded a judicial inquiry into murders in police presence as well as extra-judicial killings of two persons by the police.
