Once she asked “is social media even a career?” Today 100+ students asked her how she built one.
Bharat National Public School invited me as a panelist for their Career Talk – Panel Discussion Series for Grade 12 Commerce students, and this one felt like a milestone.
Because at their age, no one had this answer for me.
Sitting on that panel with professionals from different fields, sharing what a real workday in a social media agency looks like, the skills that actually matter, the challenges no one warns you about, and how AI is changing our profession every single day, I realised how far this industry has come, and how far I’ve come with it.
Nine years in social media marketing, 100+ brands across real estate, finance, healthcare, education and interiors, millions of views, a team of eight, and a front-row seat to Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and Google My Business becoming the backbone of how businesses grow.
That’s exactly what I told those students. Social media isn’t a distraction, it’s one of the biggest career opportunities of our generation. Strategist, creator, editor, brand manager, AI-led marketer, these are real roles with real growth. You don’t have to be a doctor, engineer or CA to build something meaningful.
The best part? Their questions. Sharp, curious, honest and full of ambition. It reminded me exactly why I do this.
Grateful for the opportunity, and just getting started.
Thank you Bharat National Public School and the Career Guidance & Counselling team for having me.
