There’s a term Aussies like to refer to as ‘Tall Poppy Syndrome’. It basically insinuates that those who go on to grow further than the rest get their heads cut off. Not literally. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They get their heads cut off from friends, family & society in the form of criticism & resentment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There will come a day when you become a ‘tall poppy’. You need to be prepared for that day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You see, with success comes resentment and animosity towards you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For most, your success is a direct reflection on the efforts of your peers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

My best piece of advice is let your success show which friends can and can’t handle an ego dent. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Then apart from that, don’t talk about your achievements to most people. Play it down. Change the subject. People prefer to talk about themselves anyways. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Each new paradigm you ascend to brings along with it, it’s own unique set of challenges. Understand that and embrace what’s to come!
