Some 15–20 years ago, “Going Digital” was the fresh wave.
In the present context, AI is riding the wave.
The future will see newer systems outweigh existing ones, and we will have to adapt to stay relevant.
Most technological developments happen to support growth and improve efficiency.
Take the example of Doordarshan. As cable television grew, there was Krishi Darshan — a TV programme meant for farmers, helping them adopt improved farming practices and produce better yields.
Then, as telecommunications advanced, IVR calls emerged. Farmers began receiving these even on their feature phones, providing immediate access to critical, localised agricultural information and weather updates.
And now, AI has arrived with a bang.
For instance, “SaralBen” — an AI-powered digital assistant for dairy farmers — provides real-time, personalised guidance on cattle health, breeding, and nutrition via the Amul Farmer app and voice calls.
Similarly, the Maharashtra government has introduced the Maha-Vistaar AI App for farmers. It offers personalised, AI-driven agricultural advisory, pest identification, and access to government schemes in local languages.
It’s interesting how technology keeps upgrading to open new paths for growth and development across industries.
The need of the hour is to embrace these advancements and stay aware of the possibilities they bring.
What’s your take on this?
