New Music Alert: “From an early age I was drawn to Karnatik music’s depth, its improvisational intensity, and the rigour it demanded. But for me, after a certain point it was never just about mastering technique - it was about the emotional resonance of raga and rhythm.”
Regarded as one of the foremost young practitioners of Karnatik Music, the LA/Chennai-based artist Aditya Prakash recently concluded three well-received shows in the country, featuring a performance at the popular Mahindra Kabira Festival and two performances of his latest offering ROOM-i-nation.
The India premiere of his solo gig-theatre project was met with a resounding response at the Mumbai Lit Fest, held at NCPA, on 2025 and most recently at the BLR Hubba, this month. Created by Aditya Prakash and co-written and directed by dancer/choreographer Mythili Prakash, ROOM-i-Nation weaves together the threads of Karnatik classical music with the history of Asian immigration and stories of identity and belonging to offer a nuanced take on navigating two worlds.
The multidisciplinary work that brings life Aditya’s 2023 album ISOLASHUN explores identity, belonging - tracing what it means to find home in the spaces between cultures.
One of the youngest musicians to have toured and performed with the legend Pandit Ravi Shankar at the age of 16, Aditya continues to work with leading innovators of the arts such as Anoushka Shankar, Karsh Kale, Tigran Hamasyan, Mythili Prakash and Akram Khan.
We are eager to see what AP’s working on next. Stay Tuned!
