We designed our first ever Coffee Table Book this year for a client based out of Sikkim, Gangtok! LINK IN BIO for the whole book (it’s over 70 pages!)
A passion project for our client that quickly turned into the same for all of us at 🥰 We were all in.
pradhan approached us with a fever dream…a dream to restore and re-introduce the lost legacy of the Lhasa Newar and the 🗻 to the world as we know it today – a world that craves purpose over price tags, authenticity over hypercommodified products and saturated experiences, but above all, a world that craves stories.
The ‘Brave Old World’ as the book came to be known, was an idea that needed to find its shape, story, and voice and we are honoured that we could help in bringing it to life, making it a tangible entity that turned into a proof of concept that enabled our client to manifest his vision in the real world and take the first (and most difficult!) step in a long and beautiful journey.
The book is an introduction to the history and culture of the Lhasa Newar traders who travelled between the Kathmandu Valley and Tibet from centuries ago and acted as a bridge for critical economic and cultural exchanges between South Asia and Central Asia. It also underlines how ‘The Himalayan Collective’ aims to reinvigorate this legacy through curated offerings across dining, culture, art, and events.
From advising on the narrative structure to editing the content drafts, from curating long lost archival photos and videos to acting as the OG cheerleaders, from brainstorming on cool ideas to make the book a sensory experience to designing elements for a PR kit, from keeping things “bite sized and relevant” to acting as the brand custodians of the .olde.world, it was a creative partnership that we are immensely grateful for.
We made it to the Acknowledgement section of the book! How cool is that 🤩
As we gear up for the next leg of this journey, here’s raising a toast to the road less travelled 🏁🙌🏻
