Strengthening Tribal Livelihoods through VDVKs
On 19 August 2026, Shri M. Rajamurugan, IPS, Managing Director, Trifed, visited the Adavi PM-JVM Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) at Harahalli Village, Mysuru District.
During the VDVK visit, Shri Mallesh, PCO, Tribal Welfare Department; Shri Nagaraj, NRLM Taluk Head; Smt. Asha, Field Officer, NRLM; and Shri Sudarshan, CO, ITDP, were present along with the VDVK beneficiaries. The VDVK, with around 300 members, primarily from the Jenu Kuruba tribal community, is engaged in the processing and marketing of rice flakes and puffed rice. The modern processing machines installed in the VDVK, help them enhancing production capacity and product quality.
During the visit, the Managing Director, Trifed interacted with VDVK members and implementing agency representatives, discussing opportunities to expand business, strengthen market linkages and enhance income-generation potential.
With the support of State Tribal Welfare Department and State Implementing Agency, Trifed continues to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for tribal communities.
