Matt Cutts recommend Using your Name instead of Keywords
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Matt Cutts is busy handling situations that hurt or stain your dedicated SEO efforts. Cutts is taking care of a scenario wherein links from blogs or comments that hurt your SEO strategy. Special attention is also paid to blogs or comments that would help you as webmaster.
The latest Webmaster Guidelines from Google will discourage forum signature links. However, what can be done about links from comments? Do any of the Google Webmaster Guidelines bar webmasters from link building by commenting? And what if it is genuinely a relevant site and the comment is truly significant?
Cutts shows Green Flag
According to Cutts, this is legal and what he precisely does all the time. He believes in posting comments on blogs (only topically relevant). He is also ok with linking those relevant comments to personal blog.
Promote Topically Relevant Comments
Cutts leave topically relevant comments on topically relevant sites all the time. Hence, if someone SEO conspiracy posts are strictly abhorred. To solve this issue, Cutts leaves a comment saying, “here is the pointer showing irrelevancy”. He will also leave a comment with his name and point to my blog rather than webmaster blog of Google. Here, it shows that Cutts is representing himself. And this practise by webmasters and users is perfectly fine.
Representation of Link
According to Cutts, the way one represents their link makes all the difference. He also suggested users use the individual rather than the name of organization or keyword. This is the best way to avoid any problems.
Leaving your name will let people know whom they are dealing with. Cutts also warns against blog comments being the main part of any link building strategy. Google will NOT appreciate a blog or website with large fraction of backlinks from blog comments.
No Link Scheme
Any link building strategy that revolves mainly around leaving comments on the internet without real people linking to the site will be considered a link scheme. Here, Google reserves all rights to take action on these manipulative link schemes.
The idea is to avoid actively using blog comments to increase backlink profile considerably. Using spammy names and keywords will lead the site or blog getting penalized.
Unfortunately, experts feel that the new rule may not do a lot to keep bloggers from commenting. They may still continue being aggressive with comments.
