ICR Naharlagun SP Dr. Nyelam Nega, APPS, has urged citizens to remain vigilant following an alleged cheating case involving a โ‚น17-crore government payment.

According to police, complainant Tayo Talom was allegedly asked to pay โ‚น2.40 crore as a bribe to facilitate the release of his pending โ‚น17-crore payment. Although he reportedly received a letter claiming that the payment had been released, the document was later found to be fake.

An FIR has been registered as Naharlagun Police Station Case No. 123/2025 against Toluk Lombi, Smty Dogi Ete and Rakesh Kumar Singh.

The SP advised the public to independently verify the identity, designation and credentials of anyone claiming to represent a government department before making financial transactions. He also cautioned citizens against relying solely on letters, messages or verbal assurances when dealing with large sums of money.

Police appeal: Verify first, pay later โ€” stay alert against financial fraud.

Social worker Chukhu Taje, along with local residents, undertook a public foot march from Gumto to Gumli via Denka and Bogoli under Gumto Circle to highlight the long-pending demand for proper road connectivity.

The 18-km road, considered a vital link under Gumto Circle and connecting the area to the Gumto Circle Office, has reportedly remained under construction for more than four decades with little visible progress. Villagers appealed to the Arunachal Pradesh Government for immediate intervention, citing severe difficulties in transportation and access to healthcare, education and other essential services.

The ground visit aimed to draw attention to the condition of the road and press for early completion of the long-pending project.
