Stock photography is rented identity.

Every brand that uses stock is sharing imagery with 47 other brands using the exact same shot. The smile, the boardroom, the hands-shaking-over-a-laptop — it’s not yours. It’s a Getty file with a transaction history.

Here’s the uncomfortable maths:
→ A single owned shoot produces 50–200 usable images.
→ Those images last 12–18 months across social, web, deck, OOH, and editorial.
→ The per-image cost is lower than stock by month four.
→ The brand recall lift is unmeasurable for stock and significant for owned.

But the real reason to shoot your own is not the math. It’s identity. Every founder we work with eventually realises: the moment we put owned imagery into the system, the brand stops feeling like ‘a category’ and starts feeling like ‘a company’.
We plan shoots that earn that distinction — locations briefed for adaptability, frames composed for crop flexibility, talent direction that produces 6 emotional registers from one location.

If your copy is “fitting into” the design, your design is louder than your point.

Here’s how most brand projects get sequenced: the designer designs the layout, then the writer tries to make a sentence fit into the space. The result reads like a haiku that lost a fight with a grid.

That’s not how craft works. The brands whose copy you remember — the ones whose lines you can quote without looking at the logo — wrote the words first. Then the design held space for them.

What good copy-led design looks like:
→ The headline is set the size the headline needs to be. The grid follows.
→ The line breaks happen where the meaning breaks.
→ The verb does more work than the typeface.
→ When the copy is cut, the design doesn’t fall apart — because the design was built on the meaning, not the volume.
The shortcut is to hire a studio that does both. The brief gets answered once. The result is one voice, not two trying to harmonise.

Your bounce rate is not a traffic problem.

If your landing page is bouncing at 70%+, your performance marketer is going to ask for more budget. They’ll be wrong. Or rather — they’ll be solving the wrong problem.

Most landing pages don’t fail on the headline you A/B tested last quarter. They fail in the first 400 pixels — the part of the screen the visitor sees before they decide whether to scroll or close.

Common 400-pixel failures we see:
→ The headline answers ‘what is this’ instead of ‘why should I care’.
→ Three CTAs competing for the same click. Pick one.
→ The hero image is generic stock. Visitors recognise it.
→ Social proof buried below the fold.
→ No reason to scroll. Visitors stop because nothing pulls them down.

Fix the first 400 pixels and your bounce rate moves before your media spend does. The math on this is uncomfortable for performance teams — but it’s the right math.

Your billboard isn’t a Behance shot. Your customer reads it at 80 km/h.

Most outdoor campaigns are designed on a 27-inch monitor, at 100% zoom, in good light. Then they’re printed at 20 feet and read by someone in third gear, with a phone vibrating in the cupholder.

The cost of that mismatch is real. A flyover billboard in a metro city costs ₹6–12 lakh a month. If your customer can’t read it in 2 seconds, you’ve leased a wall.

Here’s the OOH discipline we run by:
→ Three words. Maximum. Add a fourth, lose a customer.
→ One image. One brand. One number if you must. Nothing else.
→ Type sized for the slowest reader at the longest distance.
→ Contrast that survives sodium-vapour street lights and monsoon haze.
→ The brand at the edge, not the centre. Centre is for the message.
The best OOH we’ve shipped reads in 1.6 seconds. The worst billboards out there take 7. The math on the difference is brutal.

Most campaigns fail at the brief, not the ex*****on.

It’s easier to blame the agency. It’s true less often than founders think. We’ve audited enough briefs to know: the campaigns that misfired usually started with a brief that had a target audience, a deadline, and not much else.

Here are the 5 lines a brief actually needs. Answer these and any decent agency will give you something usable. Skip them and no agency will save you.
→ 01. Who are we trying to move? (Not ‘everyone’. Pick one persona, one mindset, one moment.)
→ 02. What do we want them to do? (Click, call, switch, share, talk — exactly one verb.)
→ 03. What’s stopping them? (The real friction — habit, price, trust, awareness, alternative.)
→ 04. What’s the stake if it works? (Revenue, retention, narrative, runway — be honest.)
→ 05. When are we live? (Pick the date. Work back from it.)

That’s the brief. Five lines. Most of what gets called ‘strategy’ downstream is just making up for what wasn’t decided here.

You have 3 seconds. Don’t spend them on a logo.

Every founder we meet wants their logo, their brand colours, and their tagline in the first second of their reel. Every algorithm wants exactly the opposite.
Here’s how a hook actually works on social video:

→ Second 0–1: A visual or copy hook that opens a loop.
→ Second 1–2: A reason to keep watching. Movement. A line being completed.
→ Second 2–3: A payoff or escalation that earns the viewer’s stay.

The reason most launch reels die at 18% completion isn’t that the brand is bad. It’s that the first three seconds were used to announce the brand instead of earn the viewer. By the time the actual hook arrives at second 6, the audience is gone.
We script reels backwards: the payoff first, then the second-3 escalation, then the hook. The brand goes at the end — where it works.

If you can find your brand guidelines, you don’t have a brand. You have a PDF.

Most brand books we audit are 60 pages, beautifully designed, and last opened 14 months ago. They sit on someone’s drive. They lose to deadline pressure every time a deck needs to ship by Friday.

Here’s the inconvenient truth: brand guidelines that exist as a static document are dead on arrival. The brands that compound — the ones whose social in March, sales deck in June, and investor update in November all look like the same company — don’t run on PDFs. They run on systems.

A brand system looks like:
→ Templates in the tools your team actually opens (Canva, Figma, Google Slides, Notion).
→ Email signatures auto-applied across the team.
→ Social grids with locked layouts and free copy slots.
→ Deck masters with permissioned variations.
→ A single source of truth for type, palette, and voice embedded where the work happens, not where it’s archived.

If your social manager has to message you “which blue?” — your brand is leaking equity every week. Multiply that by 50 weeks, and you’ll see why your brand feels diffuse a year in.
We don’t sell brand books. We build brand systems — the kind that survive 20 new hires, 5 new markets, and 3 platform pivots without policing.

If your first frame doesn’t earn the second, the algorithm doesn’t matter.

Every brand wants better reach. Reach isn’t the problem. Reach is rented — you pay, you get impressions. The problem is the first frame: the millisecond your post lands on someone’s feed, can it stop a thumb?

What we test for in every first frame we ship:

→ One idea, not three. Multiple ideas dilute attention.
→ Contrast — visual, tonal, or conceptual. The eye needs a reason to pause.
→ A reason to swipe. An open question, a missing number, a half-finished sentence.
→ Brand recognition without brand prominence. The viewer should know it’s you in 0.4 seconds — without your logo doing the work.

The algorithm rewards posts people watch. It doesn’t reward posts you boost. If hover time is sub-1 second, every rupee on amplification is a tax you pay for not solving the design problem first.
