Ravangla KRG Community Playground | Denzong Loosong Namsoong Celebrations !!!

Hon’ble MLA Barfung, Shri Riksal Dorjee Bhutia, graced the ongoing 1st MLA Veteran’s (40+) Gold Cup Football Tournament at the KRG Community Playground, Ralong, held as part of the Denzong Loosong Namsoong Celebrations.

On the fourth day, Kabi Lungchok Constituency registered a strong 4–1 win over Chujachen Constituency, followed by Barfung Constituency defeating Dzongu Constituency 4–2 in an exciting contest. A large crowd from various constituencies gathered to cheer for their teams, adding to the festive spirit.

The tournament continues to celebrate unity, sportsmanship, and cultural harmony.

1st Butterfly meet of Bhutan !!!

The event brought together butterfly experts and enthusiasts from Sikkim, West Bengal, South India, Arunachal Pradesh, and Bhutan, fostering regional collaboration in biodiversity conservation and eco-tourism. Around 200 butterfly species were recorded, including rare ones like Capila zennara (Pale Striped Dawnfly), Cyrestis cocles (Marbled Map), Araotes lapithis (Witch), Helcyra hemina (White Emperor), and Thaumantis diores (Jungle Glory).

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Tshulthrim Wildlifer , Founder of the Butterfly Society of Bhutan, for organizing this wonderful event, and to all supporting organizations — RSPN Bhutan, WWF Bhutan, Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation, Bhutan Ecological Society, Bhutan For Life, and Bhutan Birdlife Society (BBLS).

Shri Basant Gyaba Tamang Appointed as OSD to Hon’ble Minister, Yuksam-Tashiding !!!

Yuksam-Tashiding, July 9: Shri Basant Gyaba Tamang has been appointed as Officer-on-Special-Duty (OSD) to the Hon’ble Minister of Yuksam-Tashiding Constituency.

To mark the occasion, public representatives, youth, party karyakartas, and citizens from various GPUs gathered to offer khadas and extend their congratulations. Zilla and Gram Panchayat members, along with well-wishers, visited throughout the day to convey their best wishes.

First Batch of Kailash Manasarovar Yatra 2025 Flagged Off via Nathula !!!

Nathula, 20 June 2025:
The Hon’ble Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation and Commerce & Industries, and Area MLA of Yuksam-Tashiding, Shri Tshering T. Bhutia , participated in the flag-off ceremony of the first batch of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra 2025 via Nathula Pass. The yatra was officially flagged off by Hon’ble Governor Shri Om Prakash Mathur.

Shri Tshering T. Bhutia expressed gratitude to the Government of India for selecting the Nathula route for the pilgrimage and thanked Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) for his support in promoting Sikkim’s tourism. He noted that the resumption of the yatra after six years has brought renewed attention and opportunities to the tourism sector in the state.

2nd APFA International Veterans Football Tournament 2025 Kicks Off in Gangtok !!!

Gangtok, June 15:
The 2nd APFA International Veterans Football Tournament 2025 began today with a grand opening ceremony at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok. Organized by the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC), the event marks the 90th Birth Anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and the Golden Jubilee of Sikkim’s Statehood.

Hon’ble Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Shri Raju Basnet, ( Raju Human ) graced the occasion as Chief Guest, alongside Guest of Honour Shri Delay Barfungpa Hon’ble MLA, Gangtok Constituency. GMC CounCouncillors and Other notable attendees included Shri Manela Bhutia, President of Sikkim Football Association, and Tibetan Association delegates.

The inauguration featured vibrant Tibetan cultural performances, followed by an inspiring address from Shri Raju Basnet, who praised the Tibetan community's unity and stressed the importance of fitness among veterans.

Twenty teams, including international squads from the USA, Nepal, and France, are participating. The opening matches saw Gangtok Red defeat Karnataka 3-0, Delhi secure a win in the second match, and Team USA emerge victorious in the final game of the day.

The tournament will continue until June 30, celebrating sportsmanship, cultural unity, and active aging.

Hon’ble Minister Shri Tshering T Bhutia Reaches Out to Rural Villages in Yuksam-Tashiding !!!

Yuksam, June 14: Shri Tshering T. Bhutia Hon’ble Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation and Commerce & Industries and Area MLA of Yuksam-Tashiding constituency, conducted a day-long outreach program to Karjee-Mangnam and Dhuppi-Narkhola villages under the Government at Doorstep initiative.

During his visit, the Hon’ble Minister interacted with villagers, distributed essential household items, and assessed ongoing development works. Emphasizing rural upliftment, he assured phased implementation of infrastructure projects and reiterated his commitment to promoting rural tourism and homestay ventures in the region.

He also encouraged youth participation in tourism, agriculture, and dairy farming and assured that their demands would be conveyed to the Hon’ble Chief Minister for prioritization. The visit included inspection of government infrastructure and direct interaction with local residents.

The Hon’ble Minister was accompanied by officials, Panchayat members, and local leaders including CLC President Shri Nandu Gurung and Zilla Panchayat Member Shri Yadhu Nath Chettri.

Gangtok, June 11: The annual Saga Dawa Chokor was solemnly observed today at the Tsuglakhang Royal Palace, Gangtok, led by His Highness Miwang Denjong Gyalsay Rinpoche Prince Palden Gyurmed Namgyal.

Hon’ble Minister for Ecclesiastical Department, Ven. Sonam Lama , attended the sacred ceremony along with Hon’ble Gangtok MLA Shri Delay Barfungpa Deputy Mayor Ms. Tshering Palden , councillors, secretaries, monks, and devotees.

The event marked the celebration of the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of Lord Buddha, and was observed with deep reverence and spiritual fervour.

Hon’ble Minister Shri Tshering T. Bhutia Holds Final Review Meeting on Tara Devi Statue Project !!!

Gangtok, June 11: Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA Shri Tshering T. Bhutia convened the final review meeting at his residence in VIP Colony, Gangtok, to assess the progress of the Tara Devi statue construction and other developmental projects under the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim.

The meeting was attended by Principal Chief Secretary Shri Neeraj Pradhan, Chief Engineer, Additional Chief Engineer, DE, AE, Architect, and JE of the Tourism Department. Key project updates and implementation strategies were discussed in detail.
