One of the subjects was Gratitude. Way back in Dec 2015, I had expressed my gratitude in my final letter to my colleagues at Bosch Ltd, not knowing that it was so important a matter.
I am appending it as we entering the phase of Navratri when we express our gratitude to the Goddess Durga, mother earth and mom at home.
The next curtain raiser to the RYB prog is on Sunday 01st Nov 2020. Please do not miss it.
MY LAST DAY AT BOSCH LTD WILL NOT BE THOUGH 31st Dec 2015
Dear Colleagues
My service with Bosch India which started on 05th July 1994 with Motor Industries Co. Ltd will come to an end today, 31st of Dec 2015
It has been a journey with more than 7800 learnings on the way. It started with reassurance, from Mr. A K Sengupta, Head of Power Tools Division at MICO Bangalore who inducted me into the company, that they will teach me what a power tool is all about, also, because MICO Vocational Centre had won President of India’s Gold Medal for being Best Vocational Centre in the country for several times in a row. No wonder, this year, I volunteered for teaching at Bosch India’s CSR initiatives not knowing that journey will come to a premature end. Two engineers, who worked with me as Service Representative in northern region were trained and groomed by me, went on to be absorbed on company rolls at Chandigarh and Jaipur Offices.
For me it was a matter of pride to be associated with the brand, Bosch. The product has been consistently good; good better Bosch. My experience has not only been with Power Tools but also household appliances. On my first visit to Bosch factories at Stuttgart, in 2000, I bought Bosch hair dryer from the store in the company premises. Till date, my younger daughter uses it. And also we are using “rostfrei” marked cutlery, I bought from departmental stores in the city.
So what’s next
On the professional front, I have three wishes to be granted
a. One of the KRA of my job was to ensure that the tool of the customer was repaired irrespective of the fact where he bought it from and how good or bad was his usage. A big team of technicians in ASCs and at BSC Delhi were involved in this process of repairing the downtools. I owe my gratitude to the sincere and tireless work being done by them which ensured good name to the brand Bosch as people then only knew that tools are good and are also repairable. I have proposed to these technicians and their management to use liquid organic cleaners for cleaning of tools instead of kerosene and diesel as these chemicals have been going into their food cycle thru their nails and fingers. I wish each one of us talk to the dealers and ensure healthy living to these technicians. I have also proposed to majors ASCS to go in for Bosch Solar water Heaters (Cross promotion) so as to ensure hot water for cleaning of greasy and soiled parts of tools
b. Retail Management has chapter on Internet based marketing. The internet marketing has taken Indian customers in small town to use world class products are these are now available on a click of a button. The customer is however shy to ask about its usage. I wish we have an online web based training prog, tool based, to educate customer on correct usage and accessories. If they understand the tool better at the time of purchase, they will appreciate its strength and its utility and it would mean lesser failure and more brand loyalty
c. Managing spares, so many SKUs, it tedious task. I wish a software for maintaining stocks and computing sales for workshop as well as for over the counter sales. It could be excel based so that billing data in an excel file could be uploaded. Such a software will help dealers plan their requirement digitally rather than based on manual work of store in-charge
