OpenAI Expands AI Search Engine to All Users with Exciting Upgrades
OpenAI has announced that its AI-powered search engine, integrated into ChatGPT, is now available to all users starting Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Previously exclusive to paid subscribers since October, this powerful tool is now accessible on the free tier, requiring users to log in to their accounts.
As part of the latest update in OpenAI's ‘12 Days of Shipmas’ series, the search engine comes with enhanced features to provide a richer and more interactive user experience:
Detailed Results: Searches for restaurants now include opening hours, directions, reviews, and other essential details in a pop-up view.
Event Discovery: Instead of plain text snippets, users searching for events will see a curated list with descriptions, thumbnails, and links to relevant webpages.
Integrated Maps: Clicking on a location now displays an in-app map with navigable directions.
Direct Links: For specific searches, like airport cab services, links to relevant websites are prominently displayed.
Advanced Voice Mode: Users can now search using the new Advanced Voice Mode and access up-to-date information seamlessly.
This rollout follows OpenAI's recent innovations, including the launch of its AI video generator, Sora, and the premium $200 ChatGPT Pro subscription.
