A tragic explosion in Assam’s Jorhat has claimed the lives of two people, including a young child, creating panic in the area.

The incident took place in the Rajamaidam locality, where Nur Ahmed, a scrap dealer originally from Nagaon, was living in a rented house. Reports say the blast was so powerful that he died on the spot.

A four-year-old child, identified as Iqbal Ansari, was seriously injured and later died on the way to the hospital. Two other individuals are currently undergoing treatment.

In a major crackdown on digital streaming platforms, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has directed internet service providers to block five OTT platforms accused of streaming obscene content.

The platforms reportedly blocked include MoodXVIP, Koyal Playpro, Digi Movieplex, Feel, and Jugnu.

The action was taken under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, along with the provisions of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules.

Officials stated that the rules are aimed at ensuring public decency, protecting national interests, and promoting accountability across digital media platforms.

This follows a similar crackdown in July last year when several platforms, including ALTBalaji and ULLU, were also banned over allegations of streaming obscene and pornographic material.
