Festivals are one of the few moments where brands can actually feel human.

And most brands waste it on a generic post.

A simple real video from the founder or team will always connect more than a festive template.

People remember people.

Not Canva forwards.

I reject most brands.
Not because of budget.

Because of lack of clarity.
No clear gap.

No real audience understanding.

No product solving anything different.
And then they want “branding”.

Branding doesn’t fix weak foundations.
It only amplifies them.

In luxury, this matters even more.

You’re asking people to spend more.
Why should they?

If you don’t know:
Who you’re building for
Where they are
Why they’ll choose you

Then marketing won’t save you.

Save this.

Most brands don’t have a marketing problem.

They quit too early.

Run ads for a week.
Do 2 influencer collabs.
No results → “this doesn’t work.”

Real issue?

Wrong platform.
No patience.

In my case — jewellery client.

Audience was 45+.
We were pushing Instagram.

Shifted to YouTube.

First 2 months → nothing.
3rd month → 50–60% leads.

So next time before you say “not working”…

Are you on the right platform?
And did you give it enough time?

Most jewellery brands think they have a product problem.

In reality… it’s often a presentation problem.

The same design…
can look average in one frame
and premium in another.

Look at a brand like Tanishq.

Their strength is not just the product.
It’s how consistently they present it.
Styling.
Context.
Emotion.
Everything adds up.

Because customers don’t judge jewellery in isolation.

They judge it based on how it is shown to them.

Before changing your product…
fix how you’re showing it.
Save this if you’re building a serious brand.

A lot of brands confuse early sales with long-term strength.

Ugly, loud, attention-grabbing design can work in the beginning.

It brings clicks.
It brings inquiries.
It moves products.

But the real test comes later.

When you try to:

increase pricing
position yourself higher
build something long-term

That same design starts working against you.

Because customers don’t just buy the product.

They read the brand.

If your design signals “cheap”…

no matter how good your product is…

they hesitate.

That’s where most brands get stuck.

What helped them grow…
starts limiting them.

Save this if you’re building for the long run.

Some of the best-performing brands don’t look “good”.

Take CeraVe.

Plain. Clinical. Almost boring.

But that’s the point.

It doesn’t try to look premium.

It tries to feel safe, effective, trustworthy.

And that’s what their audience wants.
So next time a design feels “ugly”…

Ask this:

Is it designed to impress… or to work?

Save this if you’re building a brand.

One of the best branding decisions I made…
was when I was getting paid almost nothing.

We were working on Ram Ki Bandi — a famous dosa spot in Hyderabad.

The plan was to turn it into a proper brand.
First suggestion from everyone:
“Remove the bandi from the logo.”

Make it clean.
Make it modern.

But that didn’t feel right.

People don’t love street food brands for how they look.

They love them for the experience.
So we kept the bandi.

Refined it. Built around it.
Even carried it into the store design.

That’s when I understood something simple:
Good branding doesn’t remove what people love.

It builds on it.

Many brands begin their journey with a strong campaign.

They invest in a good photoshoot.
They define colours, tone, and visual language.

But after the first campaign, something slowly starts to change.

New content gets created with different lighting.
Different colours start appearing.
The tone of communication shifts.

Usually the reason is simple: cost, convenience, or urgency.

But every small deviation slowly weakens brand perception.

A brand is not built by one good campaign.

It is built by discipline over time.

This is why strong brands create brand guidelines and follow them consistently.

Visual direction.
Colour system.
Typography.
Photography style.
Tone of communication.

These elements should not change every few months.

When brands constantly change how they look and speak, the audience cannot build recognition.

Consistency is what allows a brand to become familiar, trusted, and memorable.

And maintaining that consistency usually starts with leadership.

Because protecting brand standards is not a design decision.

It is a strategic decision.
