Textile PLI scheme is showing tangible results in niche, high-value segments.

Imports of products such as synthetic raincoats, MMF outerwear and non-woven MMF fabrics have fallen sharply, while exports of clinical diapers, narrow woven MMF fabrics and men's synthetic briefs have surged. (see charge)

Early encouraging signs suggest India is gradually building capabilities in technical textiles and man-made fibre (MMF) products/ These are segments that have long lagged traditional cotton textiles.

The real test is whether this translates into broad-based MMF apparel and technical textile competitiveness over the next five years, not just a handful of categories.

Faster implementation of PM MITRA parks, lower logistics costs and competitive access to raw materials will determine whether these green shoots become a globally competitive industry.

The core connection between the three Vedic (Great Sayings) and lies in the transition from separateness to absolute interconnectedness. While Advaita Vedanta uses internal consciousness to realize that the observer, the observed, and the universe are one, quantum mechanics arrives at a similar boundary through external math, proving that physical reality is not fixed, localized, or independent of observation

Pioneers of quantum physics like Erwin Schrödinger explicitly drew inspiration from the Upanishads to explain how a singular reality underlies the apparent diversity of the world and Werner Heisenberg or Erwin Schrödinger specifically integrated these four perspectives into their scientific philosophies.

1. Pragyanam Brahma (Consciousness is Brahman)

The Vedic Meaning: Found in the Aitareya Upanishad, this statement defines the ultimate reality (Brahman) not as a material object or a distant god, but as pure, infinite consciousness itself.

The Quantum Parallel: In classical physics, the universe is a mechanical clockwork of independent things. Quantum mechanics shatters this via the Observer Effect. In experiments like the Double-Slit Experiment, quantum entities exist as waves of mathematical probabilities until a measurement or observation forces them to collapse into a definite particle state.

The Synthesis: Both fields suggest that reality is not independent of awareness. As physicist John Wheeler noted, we live in a "participatory universe" where the observer is required to bring physical reality into existence

2. Tat Tvam Asi (That Thou Art)

The Vedic Meaning: Spoken in the Chandogya Upanishad, a teacher tells their student that the underlying fabric of the entire universe (Tat / That) is identical to the spark of life inside the individual (Tvam / You).

The Quantum Parallel: This mirrors Quantum Entanglement and non-locality. When two particles interact, they become entangled. No matter how far apart they are placed—even across light-years—a change to one instantly dictates the state of the other.

The Synthesis: Entanglement demonstrates that subatomic particles do not possess isolated, independent identities. At a fundamental level, what appears to be "here" is profoundly and instantaneously tied to what is "there," matching the non-dual premise of Tat Tvam Asi.

3. Aham Brahmasmi (I Am Brahman)

The Vedic Meaning: From the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, this is the realization of the seeker: "I am not just this limited body and mind; I am the absolute reality containing everything".

The Quantum Parallel: This aligns with Quantum Field Theory (QFT). QFT shows that localized particles (like electrons or quarks) are not solid, separate marbles. Instead, they are merely localized ripples or excitations of all-pervading, universal fields that fill all of space.

The Synthesis: Your body is built from ripples of the exact same fields that form stars and nebulae. By looking inward, you are the cosmic field recognizing itself—the literal physical equivalent of Aham Brahmasmi.

Ayam Atma Brahma (This Self is Brahman)

The Vedic Meaning: Found in the Mandukya Upanishad, this phrase acts as a direct pointing gesture. "Ayam" means this, "Atman" is the individual soul, and "Brahman" is the cosmic whole. It translates to: "This very spirit inside me is the ultimate reality of the universe." It focuses on a witnessing stance, looking at the closest thing to you—your own awareness—and identifying it with the cosmos.

The Quantum Parallel: This mirrors Wave-Particle Duality and the Holographic Principle. In the quantum world, an individual electron is a distinct localized particle (Atman), but it is simultaneously an expression of an all-pervading, continuous wave function spread across space (Brahman). Furthermore, the holographic principle in physics suggests that the information of an entire 3D volume can be encoded on its boundary—meaning the whole is present in the smallest part.

The Synthesis: A popular Vedantic metaphor says that Atman is a single wave, and Brahman is the ocean. Ayam Atma Brahma points to the wave and declares that its fundamental substance is nothing but the ocean water. In quantum terms, it is realizing that the local particle you observe is not a separate entity; its true nature is the universal, undivided quantum field.
