An acclaimed journalist, author, educator and public affairs commentator, Prof. Verma brings nearly four decades of experience in journalism, higher education and public discourse. He has held senior editorial roles with The Hindustan Times, The Statesman and The Telegraph and currently serves as Professor of Practice at Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi. His expertise spans journalism, political communication, public policy, governance and federalism.

We are delighted to welcome Prof. Shahida Murtaza to the family of Billion Connect Private Limited as Senior Fellow.

A distinguished academic with more than three decades of experience in women’s studies, gender issues and higher education, Prof. Murtaza served Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad, for 21 years in several leadership roles, including Professor, Director of the Centre for Women’s Studies, and Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences.

Her scholarship spans reproductive health, human rights, Muslim women’s issues, digitalisation, development and the unorganised sector. She has authored six books, published extensively, guided numerous M.Phil. and Ph.D. scholars, and represented her work at international forums.

A recipient of the "Eminent Educator Award 2024–25", she has also been recognised by Awaz-The Voice among India’s top ten Muslim women academicians.

We look forward to benefiting from her scholarship, experience and guidance as Billion Connect continues to strengthen its work in research, public policy and social development.

The results are in for three key Assembly by-elections across Gujarat, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh. Here is a quick breakdown of how the voting numbers stacked up:

🔹 Gujarat | Manjalpur
• Winner: Satendrabhai Patel (BJP) – 67.2%
• Runner-up: Congress – 30.1%
• Outcome: BJP retains the seat.

🔹 Bihar | Bankipur

The latest Women, Peace and Security Index reveals a striking global divide. Nordic countries continue to lead, with Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Finland among the highest-ranked nations. At the other end, women in conflict-affected and institutionally fragile countries continue to face severe barriers to security, justice and inclusion.

India records a score of 0.61, reminding us that economic growth alone cannot ensure women’s empowerment. Real progress requires safer public spaces, equal opportunities, access to justice, political representation and freedom from discrimination.

The difference between the best- and worst-performing countries is more than threefold. These rankings are therefore not merely numbers—they reflect women’s everyday experiences, opportunities and dignity.

At Billion Connect, an internship is more than completing projects—it is about exchanging ideas, building friendships and creating memories beyond the workplace.

Some of our Summer Interns 2026 recently came together with the Billion Connect team for a wonderful get-together, filled with lively conversations, laughter and shared reflections on their internship journey. The gathering concluded with a memorable farewell lunch at Pista House Prime Dining, Hyderabad.

As this enriching journey comes to an end, we celebrate not merely the completion of an internship, but the connections, confidence and experiences our interns carry forward.
