International Animation Day(IAD'16) & CG MEETUP'17
Its a complete day event held on Thursday, 5th January 2017 at JNTUH Auditorium, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad by ASIFA-India.
History of the event:
On October 28th, 1892, a French inventor Emile Reynaud (1844-1918) made the first public performance of animation at the Grevin Museum in Paris, using his own invention "optical theater". In 2002, ASIFA (Association Internationale du Film d' Animation, registered in Annecy, France) decided to celebrate this historic day as "International Animation Day", aiming to promote and develop animation art all over the world. Many of the ASIFA National Groups started to hold the celebration on and around October 28th, as a simultaneous manifestation in various countries.
Event Highlights:
• In the beginning of the event, the IT Secretary, Mr. Jayesh Ranjan, IAS claimed that several national and international IT and mobile manufacturers were showing interest in setting up their respective bases here. An ‘Image Tower’ too is coming up under the PPP mode, providing six lakh sq ft of built up space for firms dealing with animation and gaming. It gave so much of positive hope to all the participants.
• JNTU-H registrar Prof.N.Yadaiah, expressed his warmness in attending the event, emphasised the importance and growth of Animation industry and also expressed his best wishes to all budding animators.
• Technology Manager at Disney Animation Studios, Mr. Rajesh Sharma spoke about the nitty-gritties of his craft. Participants astonished at this presentation, looking at the technological advancements of Animation technology.
• Mr. Rajiv Chiluka, CEO of Green Gold Animations shared his experience in making the "Chota Bheem" episodes. In one phrase, it's all about the journey phases of Chota Bheem. Every participant thoroughly enjoyed it.
• Indian Filmmaker Ishan Shukla Shared His Path to Making the Short ‘Schirkoa’, in this all aspiring budding animators learned the craft of storytelling and making animated content.
• Mr.Ravi Kiran representing CIE, IIIT's incubation cell), shared valuable information on scope for startups. He said that from being a sector agnostic ICT incubator, the foundation has changed its focus onto startups working on deep learning technologies and machine intelligence. Currently they are supporting startups working on computer vision, natural languages and speech recognition, with future expansion plans into the AR/VR and gaming domain. This gave so much of positive hope for all debut animators, who in future thought of getting into entrepreneurship in both Animation and Gaming disciplines.
• Finally the program came to an end with the power-packed knowledge session by Mr.Dileep of "The Cirqus" on the topic “Virtual Reality Scope in near Future”.
All the participants left the place with all heavy hearts, saying each other bye-bye, but with a positive, bright hope of meeting in the next year's event, in the next level.
