📍The Tenyimi Peoples Organization has expressed concern over the ongoing tensions in parts of Manipur, particularly Kangpokpi district.

In a recent press statement, the organization urged all communities, especially Nagas and Kukis, to maintain peace and uphold the long standing tradition of coexistence. It highlighted the sensitive ground realities where different communities live as minorities in various areas, stressing the need for mutual respect and understanding.

The statement also raised concern over the vulnerability of several Naga villages and emphasized that their safety, dignity, and rights must be respected.

Reaffirming its stand on peace and dialogue, the organization cautioned against any attempt to intimidate or forcibly evict communities from ancestral lands. It called on leaders, civil society, and citizens to act responsibly and guide the youth away from actions that may disturb harmony.

The organization concluded that peaceful coexistence remains the only sustainable path forward and urged all communities to preserve unity and respect.

Uripok Senior Citizens Submit Memorandum on NRC Update, Security, and Free Movement

Imphal, April 28, 2026 — Senior citizens from the Uripok area have submitted a memorandum to Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, outlining a series of demands including the updation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), accountability for violence, environmental protection, and ensuring unrestricted movement along key highways.

The memorandum stems from a sit-in protest held on April 19 at Uripok Canteen Corner, jointly organised by the Uripok Apunba Lup and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup. A copy of the memorandum was also submitted for onward transmission to the President of India.

In their submission, the senior citizens urged the Governor to take the following measures:

1) Expedite the updating of the NRC in Manipur before the next census exercise

2) Ensure prompt investigation and legal action against those responsible for the killing of civilians since May 3, 2023

3) Address deforestation concerns in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts and accelerate action against narcotics-related offences

4) Dismantle camps of Kuki militants currently under Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreements near valley areas

5) Strengthen security deployment by forces such as the State Police, Manipur Rifles, and Indian Reserve Battalion in vulnerable villages

6) Guarantee safe and free movement along National Highways, including security provisions for Meitei and Tangkhul communities, particularly along the Imphal–Ukhrul route

The memorandum emphasizes the need for timely action, stating that these measures are essential for restoring peace, security, and stability in Manipur.

Viral Video Raises Questions Over Security Force Conduct in Manipur

Imphal, April 28, 2026 — An undated video clip circulating widely on social media has stirred fresh concerns, allegedly showing suspected Kuki militants confronting personnel of the Assam Rifles at an unidentified location.

The authenticity, timing, and exact location of the footage remain unverified, as reported by The Sangai Express. However, the visuals have added momentum to ongoing allegations regarding possible proximity between security forces and Kuki militant groups.

In the video, several individuals believed to be militants are seen carrying rifles, some marked with distinctive red ribbons tied near the muzzle. During the exchange, voices attributed to Assam Rifles personnel can be heard making statements such as, “We will speak with high command,” “You are telling us to fire, but there is no use,” and “We will be pressured by higher authorities.” One remark, “Nothing will happen to Kukis, you guys are safe here,” has drawn particular attention online.

At one point, a militant places a phone call to an individual addressed as “Sir,” discusses grievances, and then hands the phone to an Assam Rifles member. In the background, another voice is heard asserting, “We have very good guns.”

Throughout the clip, the group raises complaints about alleged incidents involving Army vehicles and expresses suspicion of coordination between security forces, Arambai Tenggol, and Meitei groups, particularly referencing movements from the Moreh side.

The video concludes with light-hearted exchanges and laughter between both parties, hinting that such interactions may not be isolated occurrences.

While the footage has intensified public debate, officials have yet to issue a verified statement regarding its contents or implications.

The image shows how even a smaller neighbour(Bangladesh) can move ahead by focusing on growth and development.

👉 Now think about Manipur. 📢📢📍

While we remain divided and continue to fight each other in the name of community, other states are investing in progress, infrastructure, education, and economic strength.

They are moving forward. We are standing still.

This is not about comparing Manipur with others, but about understanding a simple truth: progress comes from unity, stability, and clear priorities.

If we keep choosing conflict over cooperation, we will be left behind while others continue to rise.

The choice is ours. 🫵🫵🫵🫵

SoO Militants Accused of Fresh Armed Assault in Ringui; Two Naga Village Guards Injured as Gunfight Triggers Panic

April 28, 2026

Ukhrul: The Information and Publicity Cell of the Ringui Village Protection Committee (RVPC) has strongly condemned what it termed an unprovoked armed attack allegedly carried out by Kuki militants operating under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement. The attack targeted members of the Naga Village Guard (NVG) at Ringui village in Ukhrul district on Tuesday morning.

According to a statement issued by the RVPC, the incident occurred at approximately 10:30 AM along Ringui Horei, within the territorial jurisdiction of Ringui Naga Village. The assailants, reportedly armed with sophisticated weapons, opened fire on NVG personnel who were monitoring the area, leaving two village guards seriously injured.

The exchange of gunfire is said to have continued for several hours, triggering widespread panic among villagers. Residents, including women, children, and the elderly, were forced to take shelter amid fears of stray bullets and further escalation.

The RVPC expressed grave concern that the incident is not isolated but part of a recurring pattern of armed aggression in the same area. The committee alleged that repeated attacks by SoO militants have created a persistent atmosphere of insecurity, exposing civilians to the risks of displacement, property damage, and loss of life.

“The continued aggression carries the dangerous potential to escalate tensions between communities and destabilize peace and communal harmony across Manipur,” the statement noted, warning that unchecked violence could deepen existing ethnic fault lines in the region.

Highlighting the vulnerability of innocent civilians, the committee urged the competent authorities to take immediate and effective measures to restore peace and ensure the safety of residents in Ringui and surrounding areas. It called for timely intervention to prevent further escalation and uphold law and order.

Reaffirming unity and resilience, the Ringui Village Protection Committee stated that the people of Ringui remain steadfast in defending their land, protecting their community, and safeguarding their right to live in peace and dignity.

At the time of filing this report, the situation in the area remained tense.
