Amid tense law and order situation during Bandh call in ICR, on 17/02/2023 at around 0730 hrs, Ct Rohit Dada of Nirjuli PS was asked by a family of a pregnant woman to help them in reaching hospital. The police personnel took the pregnant woman in his personal vehicle, however the roads were blocked in various locations enroute to Naharlagun. Hence considering the condition of the woman and law and order situation, she was brought to Police station, Nirjuli, being the closest place from their position.
Finally, the lady police personnel of the PS along with a wife of a police personnel helped woman deliver a baby girl inside one of the buildings of the PS. The parents of the baby named her โAnaโ, deriving the last three letters of the word Thana.
