ACB Holds Press Conference on Jang Post Office Misappropriation Case

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Police Station, Itanagar, during a press conference on Friday, informed that it has secured conviction in a long-pending public fund misappropriation case linked to Jang Sub Post Office in Tawang district.

Addressing the media, ACB officials stated that the case originated from an FIR lodged by Kusheshwar Pandit, Assistant Superintendent of Post Office, West Division Itanagar, alleging misappropriation of public money amounting to ₹8,25,803.15 from the closing cash balance of Jang Sub Post Office in April 2011.

The ACB further informed that after detailed investigation, accused Partho Pratim Baruah, who was serving as Sub Post Master during the period of misappropriation, was convicted by the Special Judge, Prevention of Corruption Act, West Sessions Division Yupia, Dr. Hirendra Kashyap.

The conviction judgment was delivered on 14 May 2026, and the accused has been sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment, officials said during the press conference.

A fact-finding committee constituted by the District Administration, Lower Subansiri, continued its second day of ground reality survey in connection with the alleged irregularities under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) scheme in Ziro. The committee members conducted field inspections at various project sites to assess the actual implementation status, quality of work, and utilisation of funds on the ground.

RTI activists and local stakeholders closely monitored the survey process and expressed hope that the investigation would ensure transparency, accountability, and justice for the public. The committee is expected to submit its detailed report to the district administration upon completion of the inquiry.

DFCSO Assures Sector-Wise LPG Delivery From Tomorrow Amid Long Queues in ICR

Long queues for LPG cylinders continued across the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) on Friday, with some residents reportedly lining up from midnight despite authorities stating there is no gas shortage. Honi Bayang, DFCSO ICR, assured that LPG cylinders will be delivered sector-wise from Saturday and appealed to the public not to gather at gas agencies, as cylinders will not be distributed there. AKPDSU Conducts Spot Verification of Pitapool–Kyunglo Road Project, Alleges Major Irregularities

Keyi Panyor, May 21:The All Keyi Panyor District Students Union (AKPDSU) conducted a ground-level spot verification of the Pitapool–Kyunglo Road Project in Keyi Panyor District and alleged several serious irregularities and deficiencies in the ex*****on of the project.

According to the union, the inspection was carried out to assess the actual condition and progress of the road construction work being implemented in the district. During the verification, AKPDSU members reportedly observed multiple issues related to the quality of work and overall ex*****on process.

The union stated that developmental projects funded with public money must strictly maintain transparency, accountability, and proper quality standards. It further expressed concern that any negligence or irregularity in such important infrastructure projects directly affects public welfare and development in the region.

AKPDSU also reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public interest and ensuring that government-funded developmental works are implemented properly and efficiently. The union demanded strict action against any form of corruption, negligence, or substandard work found during the ex*****on of the project.

The students’ body further urged the concerned authorities and executing agencies to conduct proper monitoring and take necessary corrective measures to ensure quality infrastructure for the people of Keyi Panyor District.
