Late 90s until about 2004, I had hip-hop clothing stores.
Collection's America. I used to do a lot of promo for Universal Music then. That's when I met Kevin, aka Lil K right and Kavan aka Fudge (left). They quickly became the stores street team, marketing all over the city. We sponsored events, club nights, djs and even managed Raptor's players then. Man, did we throw some amazing ball player parties.
Fudge and me, both being aries, would agree and disagree a lot of times, but one thing never changed we both wanted the best for each other. We got together a while back and talked about old times and this jersey we all used to wear with our nicknames. Mine was Indyan cause when guys would come into the shop looking for me, the hard-core Jamaican accent would say Indian that way.
I never could have done what I did with those stores with the crew and especially Fudge. I was proud to see you grow into the man you became. I wish we had stayed in touch more over the years, but life took us in different directions. Thank you, Kavan, for being so real and authentic throughout. The world and the city lost a good one. I can still hear that high-pitched laugh while you punched me in the arm.
Thank you for giving me that space you did in your life.
Bless your family. You will be missed by many.
Love you always brother, RIP.
Rinku.
