🎓 The B-School Bubble Is Bursting. But Why?

What is driving the downfall of B-Schools today?

According to Dr. Shailesh Rastogi, the core issue comes down to one thing: value addition.

If an MBA education does not genuinely add value to a student's skills, capabilities, and career, it eventually creates a bubble—one that is now facing a course correction, accelerated by the rise of AI.

But there’s a clear difference.

B-Schools that have consistently focused on building student capabilities and creating real value are not facing the same challenges.

Because when students gain genuine skills and value from their education, their degree becomes more than a certificate—it becomes an asset.

🎙️ Hear Dr. Shailesh Rastogi unpack the changing B-School landscape and the need to rethink management education in the latest EduVoice Podcast.

Sometimes, the biggest risks look like madness before they look like vision. 🚀

When asked about the highest financial risk he ever took, Mr. Vinay Agarwal, Founder & Chancellor of ISBM University, recalled setting up a university in Gariaband in 2015.

At the time, the location was a tribal area with very few people around—there was hardly anyone for nearly 3 kilometres. With an investment of approximately ₹30 crore, many people questioned his decision.

As he puts it, people wondered whether he was “a maniac or a genius.”

But visionary decisions often look unconventional before they prove their worth.

đź’ˇ The biggest risks are sometimes taken when you see an opportunity that others simply can't see yet.

Watch the complete conversation on Eduvoice to hear Vinay Sir's journey of taking bold risks and building a legacy in education.

What truly makes a school successful? It’s not the building. It’s the people.

When asked what sets Dehradun’s school culture apart from metro schools, Dr. Samar Jeet Singh shared a powerful perspective:

A school isn't built by its brick, fees, facilities, or infrastructure—it is built by its teachers and staff.

When the staff is genuinely involved, committed, and connected with the students and the institution, academic growth follows naturally. The right people create the right methodology, culture, and environment for students to thrive.

Because every school has a staff. But an involved staff builds a successful school. 🎓

📚 A Leader Should Never Stop Learning.

With 330+ research papers to his name, Dr. Shailesh Rastogi continues to actively contribute to research—even at an administrative level where many professionals choose to slow down.

But for him, it’s not about numbers. It’s about staying connected to both teaching and research.

He believes that if you teach business, you must continue to contribute to the field. And if you are a researcher but cannot be a good teacher, that creates another gap.

Because great education needs both—strong research and effective teaching.

Even at the administrative level, staying involved in research helps leaders understand what the industry, students, and education ecosystem need to grow.

🎙️ Hear Dr. Shailesh Rastogi share his perspective on balancing leadership, teaching, and research in the latest EduVoice Podcast.

Failure can close a chapter, but it doesn't have to end the story. 🚀

When asked about his biggest failures, Mr. Vinay Agarwal, Founder & Chancellor of ISBM University, openly shared that he ventured into several businesses and international education initiatives—including a BPO, an institute in Ukraine in 2013, and another institution in Switzerland in 2019—but had to shut them down due to various challenges.

But the journey didn't stop there.

Today, he proudly looks ahead with the establishment of ISBM University London.

His journey is a powerful reminder that setbacks are not the opposite of success—they can be stepping stones towards something bigger.

How long does it really take to build a fully functional school? 🏫

According to Dr. Niyati Chitkara, building a successful school is not a short-term business project—it takes around 10–15 years of patience, reinvestment, and commitment.

With her family being in education for 40+ years, she explains that educators often reinvest whatever they earn back into the institution. There is no real “break-even” mindset because education is a service-driven industry, not simply a business venture.

The journey is a continuous cycle of sustain → reinvest → grow → serve better.

🏛️ A New School? Or A Legacy Built Over Decades?

When asked why he chose to join BSM after already serving as the Director of SIBM, Dr. Shailesh Rastogi shared a powerful perspective: Badruka was never really a new name. It was a legacy.

Badruka’s journey in education began back in 1950, when the first commerce college was established in Andhra Pradesh. It was also among the early institutions affiliated with Osmania University.

Today, 10,000+ students are part of the Badruka alumni network, with a remarkable legacy in commerce and professional education.

The message is clear: institutions may introduce new programs, but a strong educational legacy is built over generations.

A journey that began with 3 children in a rented room in 1959 has today grown into 7 campuses, 8,000 students, and 700+ teaching and non-teaching staff.

In this inspiring episode of the Mediagarh Podcast, Pankaj Budhwani, Founder of Mediagarh, sits down with Mrs. Deepa Sridhar, Director – Academics, Sri Kumaran Group of Educational Institutions, Bengaluru, to explore a remarkable legacy built across generations.

From being a student, teacher, headmistress, principal, and now Director, Deepa Ma’am shares how her grandmother’s belief that every child deserves a good education continues to shape the institution even today.

The conversation goes beyond the story of an institution—it explores purpose-driven education, lifelong learning, parenting, AI in education, and the responsibility schools carry towards students.

💡 Key takeaways from Deepa Ma’am:
• Every teacher and student must remain an eager learner.
• A strong support system can help a child reach their true potential.
• AI can assist teachers and students, but it cannot replace human guidance and learning.
• Let children run their own race and fight their own battles.
• Schools must be clear about their philosophy and purpose.
• In marketing, promise only what you can truly deliver—too much promotion can be counterproductive.
