New England agreed to a 3-year deal with Alijah Vera-Tucker, a former first-round pick of the New York Jets.

This isn't the first time the Ravens backed out of a deal because of a failed physical.

In 1997, a deal with safety Brock Marion also fell through minutes before he was going to sign a contract because the team discovered a potential problem with his left shoulder.

Marion went on to play 7 more seasons.

In 2018, the Ravens planned to sign wide receiver Ryan Grant in free agency to a 4-year, $29 million contract. The deal never materialized after team doctors found something wrong with his ankle.

Grant never missed a game in his career to that point and instead signed with the Colts and played 2 more seasons in the NFL.

In 2020, DT Michael Brockers was set to sign a 3-year $30 million contract with the Ravens but was void due to red flags around an ankle sprain he experienced the previous season.

Brockers re-signed with the Rams instead then retired 4 years later.

Now in 2026, the Ravens backed out of their trade with Maxx Crosby over a failed physical related to his knee.

In 2018 the Ravens changed their plans from Grant to Michael Crabtree.

In 2020, they shifted from Brockers to Derek Wolfe.

Former New England Patriots 1st-round pick Cole Strange has signed a multi-year deal and could compete for the starting right guard job in 2026.

Strange started 14 games for the Miami Dolphins in 2025, showing he can still be a reliable interior lineman when healthy.
