Google Updates It’s Privacy Policy: Check Difference Between Old and New

Around the time Google introduced their social offering called Google+, they started an exercise of bring together all their products and services. They started with redesigning all their products to bring in visual uniformity. They also introduced Google+ integration in YouTube, Gmail, Google Reader and more.

Now it has brought about a convergence of 60 different privacy policy into a singe one. Well on the surface it looks a lot better for Google users, as a single privacy policy can actually be read and understood and not reading through several ones.

But it has also raised some questions on what happens to the data and how Google will deal with it.

What could be the advantages for Google?

Google will also integrate all the data, users have across all their products and services. This could be something that it already does through various privacy policies, but now will do it through a single one.

Users might not like the idea of their data being integrated from various other services, but it will probably give Google better way to serve up relative advertisements.

I think most people would be fine with this data being integrated, except with Gmail. People already do not like the idea of advertisements being served up on Gmail. If they see their data from Gmail being used to serve up advertisements on their search results, it might cause some criticisms of Google.

Facebook India recently announced that mobile users in India can also access their Facebook accounts without the need of a internet connection, with the help of an app called Fonetwish.

All you are need to do is dial *325 # on your mobile phone. This will pull up a list of options via a console like interface to access your Facebook news feeds, update your status, manage friend requests and notifications.

Using Fonetwish App for Facebook on your Mobile Phone
This is done via using Facebook App called Fonetwish, which charges Re 1/- per day while updating status on Facebook is free.

This service is meant to work on any phone which could be an iPhone or even simpler lower-end phone models. There are no roaming charges either.
The only problem with using Fonetwish is that it has a limit of 140 characters.

This service is available in India on Airtel, Aircel, Idea, Videocon, Loop Mobile and Tata Docomo networks.

Here is a list of my favorite Google advanced search operators, operator combinations, and related uses:

link:URL = lists other pages that link to the URL.
related:URL = lists other pages that are related to the URL.
site:domain.com “search term = restricts search results to the given domain.
allinurl:WORDS = shows only pages with all search terms in the url.
inurl:WORD = like allinurl: but filters the URL based on the first term only.
allintitle:WORD = shows only results with terms in title.
intitle:WORD = similar to allintitle, but only for the next word.
cache:URL = will show the Google cached version of the URL.
info:URL = will show a page containing links to related searches, backlinks, and pages containing the url. This is the same as typing the url into the search box.
filetype:SOMEFILETYPE = will restrict searches to that filetype
-filetype:SOMEFILETYPE = will remove that file type from the search.
site:www.itplglobal.com “+www.itplglobal.com” = shows you how many pages of your site are indexed by google
allintext: = searches only within text of pages, but not in the links or page title
allinlinks: = searches only within links, not text or title
WordA OR WordB = search for either the word A or B
“Word” OR “Phrase” = search exact word or phrase
WordA -WordB = find word A but filter results that include word B
WordA +WordB = results much contain both Word A and Word B
~WORD = looks up the word and its synonyms

IMS Research report says video analytics market will be worth 600 million dollars by 2015.
According to a new report by IMS Research the need for chargeable higher-end applications will push the market for video analytics to $600 million in 2015. Features like motion detection and camera tamper, embedded in surveillance devices and offered as free, will be joined by applications for more sophisticated video content analysis (VCA).

IMS Research predicts that a clear divide will emerge between free lower-end applications and chargeable higher-end applications. IMS researcher Jon Cropley said: “the higher-end analytics will mirror the needs of society and advances in surveillance technology. Applications include people counting, identifying customer traffic patterns, assessing customer dwell times at different areas of a shop, and analyzing the length of queue lines, to name but a few. Then there are technology improvements such as (fewer) false alarms, searchable analytics and increasing processing power, enabling more applications at the edge.”

Cropley said the predicted $600 million market in 2015 represents a fivefold increase on 2008, but admitted the industry still faces hurdles. Two factors that may impede chargeable video analytics are how surveillance devices are currently being used and the cost of bringing new applications on line.
