With the advent of boutique agencies opening up in India and the opportunities that large corporations offered for creative consultancy, Malini rose to the occasion and set up her own creative consultancy in 2000 with support from some of her Clients who bestowed their confidence on her to handle their key brands. In a short spell of time, her business grew, and Clients demanded a more holistic solution to their Branding and Marketing problems, encouraged, she set up her own Agency in April 2004 by the name of Paper Tree.
