Waste management.....
Attention needed for policy makers!!!!!
When composite structure reaches the end of its useful life,The disposal becomes an issue. In old days composite components from aircraft & automobiles have been disposed of by land burying or incineration. While landfills remain the least expensive option, it is having other severe implications.Several state federations and countries have passed strict laws against landfilling method of composite disposal.
Further, incineration of plastics is to be avoided because of the potential release of toxic byproducts.
However current geo-political scenario dictates use of alternate and renewable energy sources.
!!!!!! This is an extensive opportunity to look for an alternate recycling infrastructure. .
When a composite structure reaches the end of its service life, disposal becomes an issue.
People should look for new technologies through which a composite made structure will be disposed of when it completes its useful life.
Recycling is of four type:
Primary, Secondary, Tertiary & Querttnary.
Recycling is practical only if the value of the reclaimed raw materials exceeds the cost of the recycling process. Here, composites present some unique difficulties for recyclers because of the complex nature of the product.
A composite, however, can be made from a number of materials that are much more difficult to separate and, in the case of thermoset composites, cannot be reclaimed through a melt process. With great technology advancements carbon fiber/ fabric recycling is feasible.More over, waste and chopped small fibers can be used as a feedstock for bulk compound molding.
Aircraft and aerospace wastes recycling work to be initiated in a large way in near future !!!!!!
Recycled fibers or waste shall have selling potential and reusability. The value of the such waste in term of market capital shall be worked out which may be a source of impetus for all future growth.
Carbon fiber recycling is still in its infancy stage in many industries, we all are excited about its future opportunity.
