নবদ্বীপে মহাপ্রভুর সংকীর্তন | Chaitanya – Sankirtan | चैतन्य संकीर्तन

Dolyatra, marking the birth anniversary of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, coincides with the festival of Holi in Bengal and has long been associated with the Chaitanya Sankirtan movement. This tradition was vividly portrayed around 1885 by the artists of Calcutta Art Studio.

The composition depicts the pre-sannyasa, unshaven Mahaprabhu (Gour) in his hometown of Nabadwip, dressed in reddish-purple, alongside Nityananda Prabhu (Nitai) in blue and fellow devotees. Overcome with devotional ecstasy during fervent chanting and singing of the holy sankirtan, some are shown collapsing to the ground.
