Nilanjan Ghosh
Nilanjan Ghosh is a composer-music producer-percussionist from Kolkata,India. He started training in tabla and Indian classical music at the tender age of 5 and appeared on stage for the first time at the age of 6. He has been performing on stage ever since. He started learning tabla under Sri Swapan Naskar and then Pandit Shankar Ghosh and Shri Rupak Bhattacharjee. Presently he is under the guidance of Sri Shankar Narayanswamy, as a student of mridangam and Carnatic rhythms. In his 23 years of performance career he has experimented with many percussion instruments like the srikhol,drumset, cajoun, congas and darbukka. Presently he performs as a tabla player and a drummer parallelly for different music projects and studio sessions. He is one of the most sought after session artist, therefore, has many albums under his belt, consisting of national as well as international releases. As far as live performance goes, Nilanjan has appeared in different projects as a band or an individual and has lent his musical abilities in genres ranging from Indian classical and folk to jazz and rock, electronica to film music. As a session musician he has appeared for musicians like Pt. Tanmay Bose, Pt. Shantanu Bannerjee, Shri Kumar Mukherjee and national award winning music director Shri Debojyoti Mishra. His arrangement of songs and compositions have also earned him several prizes, so has his teaching qualities. Nilanjan has performed at almost all venues in his hometown in Kolkata and in almost all major Indian cities in India. West also has had a taste of his music. He has performed in many T.V. and radio shows in a group or as a solo artist.
