How To: Set Vacation Responder in GMail

7 Go to Settings:
Click the gear icon on the top right of the page and choose the Settings option. Click on Settings.

6 Scroll Down:
Once you're in Settings, you'll land on the General tab by default. Just scroll down and right at the bottom, before Outgoing Message Encoding, you'll see the option for Vacation Responder.

5 Turn On:
You'll first have to Turn On your Vacation Responder. Choose the 'Vacation Responder On' option.

4 Choose Dates:
Set the date you want to start the vacation responder on. You can either leave the Vacation Ends option blank (return and once you log in, Google asks if you want to end the responder) or set the day when you are returning and want the responder to be turned off.

3 Write Your Text:
Write the text message you want to be sent out in the Vacation Responder. Don't forget to add the Subject line. Also, keep the message short and to the point. Do not exagerate. Also, DO NOT give your contact details if you will be in an area with low network. Instead refer the person to a colleague/assistant.

2 Choose Contacts:
You can choose who you want the message to be sent to. You can send the message only to people in your contact list or to anyone who sends you a mail. The response will not be sent everyday if a person mails you repetetively but just once every three days.

1 Save Changes:
Once you've set the dates, typed your message and cross checked everything, click on Save Changes. There! Your Vacation Responder is all set!
