നീതിന്യായ വ്യവസ്ഥ എങ്ങനെയാണ് നിരവധി ഇരകളെ പരാജയപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതെന്ന് നമുക്ക് എപ്പോഴും കാണിച്ചുതരും.
2004 ൽ, ഇന്ത്യയിലെ നാഗ്പൂരിലെ ഒരു ചേരിയിൽ, അക്കു യാദവ് എന്ന ഒരു ഭീകരൻ ഒരു ദശാബ്ദത്തിലേറെ തന്റെ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള എല്ലാവരെയും ഭയപ്പെടുത്തി.
പത്ത് വയസ്സ് പ്രായമുള്ള ഡസൻ കണക്കിന് സ്ത്രീകളെ അയാൾ ബലാത്സംഗം ചെയ്തു, കുറഞ്ഞത് മൂന്ന് പേരെയെങ്കിലും കൊലപ്പെടുത്തി, പോലീസുകാർ അഴിമതിക്കാരാണെന്നും സിസ്റ്റം അയാളെ സംരക്ഷിച്ചുവെന്നും കരുതി അയാൾ ഓരോ തവണയും സ്വതന്ത്രനായി നടന്നു.
അയാളെ കുറിച്ച് റിപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്യാൻ ശ്രമിച്ച ഇരകളുടെ പരാതികൾ അവഗണിക്കുകയോ അവരുടെ മുഖത്ത് എറിയുകയോ ചെയ്തു. അയാൾ തൊട്ടുകൂടാത്തവനായിരുന്നു.

മുമ്പ് അയാൾ ബലാത്സംഗം ചെയ്ത ഒരു സ്ത്രീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു. അയാൾ അവളെ കണ്ടു, പരിഹസിച്ചു, വേശ്യ എന്ന് വിളിച്ചു, വീണ്ടും അത് ചെയ്യുമെന്ന് വീമ്പിളക്കി. പോലീസ് ചിരിച്ചു.
