I used to think building a brand started with a logo.
A fancy design. A website. A product.
But after watching dozens of brands struggle (and succeed), I realized:
Most brands don’t fail because of passion.
They fail because they misunderstand the journey.
Here’s what most people do (and where it goes wrong):
1. Start with a logo
It feels like momentum, but a logo is not a strategy.
Start with your message. Your story. Your why.
2. Create a product or service
But often… it’s built without audience feedback.
Validate first. Build later.
3. Get excited about the launch
The website’s live. Everything’s set.
But then—crickets.
Excitement isn’t strategy. Visibility is.
4. Realize the brand has no substance
No clear value. No emotional pull.
Ask: “Why should anyone care?”
5. No sales = panic
Some blame the market. Most quit.
This is where real branding begins.
6. Winners do one thing: PIVOT
They redefine their strategy.
Who am I serving?
What problem am I solving?
Am I saying it clearly?
7. Speak to emotions, not just features
People don’t buy stuff. They buy outcomes.
Sell the transformation.
8. Pick the right platforms
Instagram. Email. LinkedIn. Ads.
Not everywhere—just where it matters.
And that’s when things shift.
The audience connects.
They see themselves in your story.
They trust your brand.
And sales become the byproduct of clarity.
If your brand isn’t working, it’s not a failure.
It’s feedback.
Refine it.
Test it.
Show up again.
The best brands don’t quit at step five.
