GOA ANTI-CONVERSION BILL: WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Goa Government is preparing to bring an Anti-Conversion Bill aimed at preventing forced or unlawful religious conversions.

The proposed law targets conversions carried out through force, fraud, pressure, financial inducement, or other unlawful means.

But an important question remains:

How can Goa stop forced conversions while also ensuring that the law is not misused against people who freely choose their religion?

The Bill is still at the legislative stage.
The real debate will now happen in the Goa Legislative Assembly.

The Annexure C list raises a serious question about pensions being paid to former MLAs. When ordinary citizens struggle with rising costs and limited social support, should taxpayers’ money fund lifetime political pensions running into lakhs every month?

Democracy is public service—not a lifelong privilege. It’s time for transparency, accountability and a serious review of political pensions.
