The conversations focused on NTFP and forest products, sources of household income, seasonal livelihood patterns, malnutrition, and the seasonal calendar—understanding how communities depend on natural resources throughout the year.

Discussions also explored opportunities for strengthening second-crop cultivation after paddy, helping farmers improve income, food availability and livelihood security while reducing seasonal gaps.

These community-led discussions are an important step towards understanding local realities and identifying sustainable, locally relevant solutions for stronger livelihoods and resilient communities.

The Gapa Fellows screening and selection journey focuses on identifying passionate and committed young people from local communities who can become storytellers of their own villages.

Selected youth fellows will document and share stories from their own communities, highlighting local issues, people’s experiences, indigenous culture, traditions, knowledge, livelihoods, and community-led solutions.

Through this initiative, young people will not just collect stories—they will become the voices of their own communities, preserving local heritage while bringing important grassroots issues to a wider audience.
