Instinct gets you started. Discipline is what lets you survive being wrong.

Meet Komal Hiranandani, Founder of Dolce Vee — a category-defining fashion rental brand with no industry playbook to follow.

When you’re building something that doesn’t exist yet, there’s no benchmark to work off. No one in your industry to call for advice. You’re working almost entirely on instinct - informed by conversations with people in parallel industries, but ultimately, still a guess.

The mistake most founders make here isn’t guessing. It’s guessing without structure.

Komal’s approach: the discipline isn’t in having the right number from day one — it’s in defining the time, the space, and the budget you give yourself to test that guess. That way, when it doesn’t work out, you have a system to check yourself and recalibrate, instead of just reacting.

This is exactly the kind of clarity we love seeing in the founders we work with.

Most purchase trackers only show name, invoice amount, and payment status. That's why businesses keep double-paying vendors and losing GST credit.

Here's what a world-class purchase tracker actually needs:

1️⃣ PO raised - quantity ordered
2️⃣ GRN - quantity actually received against that order
3️⃣ Invoice amount & payment due date - matched against what was actually received
4️⃣ Vendor GST filing status - has your vendor filed and remitted the input tax owed to you? If not, don't release the next payment.
5️⃣ Payment status - paid, unpaid, due, or contested

Track these five, and you catch the two most expensive mistakes businesses make: paying for goods you never received, and paying vendors who haven't filed their GST = which means you lose that input credit permanently.

Most companies skip this. And that skip is pure revenue leakage.

Your biggest setback might be the thing your business actually needed.

Meet the team behind Project Chirag — an NGO that began as a college initiative in 2010, bringing solar-powered lighting to rural Indian villages with no access to electricity. What started with a handful of students has since grown into full rural transformation work — education, health, livelihoods — across hundreds of villages.

But growth wasn't a straight line. A few years in, the original team — the students who'd built it from scratch, moved on to pursue their own careers. For the founder, it felt like the ground had shifted.

"An inner voice told me that you're on the right track. Maybe this is good for you. Maybe you need fresh blood, more professional blood."

Not being an engineer, not having the "right" credentials for the work — none of it stopped continuous learning: reading constantly, leaning on advisors, staying open to being wrong.

The lesson for any founder: your setbacks are rarely the end. Often, they're exactly the push your business needs to become more professional than it was before.

Your sales and your cash flow are not the same thing. Here's why they never match.

Most restaurant owners assume today's sales = today's bank balance. It doesn't — and not tracking the gap is why cash flow always feels off.

Here's what you actually need to track:

💵 Cash — collected daily, but only counted correctly if deposited daily. Are you reconciling this?

💳 Card & UPI — usually hits your account T+1 (next day). Reconcile weekly.

🛵 Zomato & Swiggy — settlements typically take 7-15 days. What your POS shows today won't hit your bank for over a week. Without monthly order-wise reconciliation, you'll always see a mismatch.

If you only look at your POS, you're tracking sales — not cash flow.

Reconcile all three properly, and you finally see your real cash position — which is what actually lets you plan and grow with confidence.

“Entrepreneurship has made me who I am today.”

Meet Jheal Shah, Founder and CEO of The Stylease — and the story of how she built an industry from scratch.

Before fashion rental was a familiar concept in India, Jheal had no mentor to explain how it worked, no playbook to follow. So she built the education herself — literally creating pamphlets to explain what renting clothes even meant, to a market that had never seen it before.

No godfather in the field. No shortcut. Just learning on the job, every single day, because that was the only way to survive.

Looking back, she credits that entire experience for the risk-taking instinct she carries today, and the clarity to predict what happens three steps ahead — and explain exactly why

Your e-commerce platform is quietly costing you extra money at tax filing. Here's how:

Most platforms cut TCS and TDS on every sale you generate. Say you make a ₹1 lakh sale - ₹1,000 gets cut as TCS, and ₹1,000 as TDS.

Here's what needs to be checked :

1️⃣ Is the correct amount actually being cut?
2️⃣ Is the TCS reflecting in your GST input tax during reconciliation?
3️⃣ Is the TDS (1%) reflecting correctly in your income tax portal?

Most e-commerce founders skip monthly TCS/TDS reconciliation entirely — so they have no idea whether these amounts are actually showing up where they should.

The result? Come filing time, you end up paying more tax than you should - simply because credit that was already deducted never got claimed.

"I felt like Shah Rukh Khan."

Meet Rajesh & Deepti, Co-founders of Must Be Nuts.

When Lil Flea sold out before they could book a stall, most founders would've just skipped it. Instead, Rajesh decided to show up anyway - in a full crocodile costume as their mascot, Zag, walking straight through the flea market with no stall, no booth, no budget.

Kids wanted photos. Adults wanted to know who this crocodile was. People lined up just to shake his hand.

Zero rupees spent. Just one founder willing to be the marketing himself.

This is exactly the kind of resourcefulness we love seeing in the founders we work with.

Your Zomato/Swiggy payout is quietly leaking money. Here's how to catch it.

Most restaurants run on the dashboard number - but that's not what actually lands in your bank account. There's almost always a gap.

Why? Multiple charges get cut on every single order, and most restaurants never reconcile against them.

Here's the fix:

1️⃣ Pull data from your POS system
2️⃣ Get the monthly settlement report from Zomato/Swiggy
3️⃣ Check your bank statement for actual settlement amounts received

Then verify:
✅ Is the commission cut on each order correct?
✅ Have any ad spends or extra charges been deducted?
✅ Are platform charges matching your actual agreement?
✅ Is the GST on their commission calculated correctly?

Do this properly, and you'll typically find an 8-10% gap between what you received and what you were actually owed.

That's not a rounding error. That's revenue leakage.

Most founders only open their numbers when something's wrong.

The founders who actually scale well look at their numbers even when things are going great - not to fix a problem, but to find what's working and do more of it.

Your P&L isn't just a warning system. It's a growth lever!

This is a lesson every founder eventually learns - often the hard way, usually the moment a VC starts asking questions like margins, COGS, CM1, CM2, and you realize you don't have the answers yet.
